[0003] In recent years there has been an increasing demand to use natural products from renewable sources or natural derived products in the field of cosmetics. Natural surface treatment of the pigments with a clean label, appealing story, and sustainable beauty claims is increasingly popular. In one example, hydrogenated lecithin treatment provides a nutritious effect and excellent affinity to the skin. In another example, jojoba ester treatment is stable at high temperature, has oxidative stability, and provides moisturization to dry skin, see US Patent No. 8, 623, 386, herein incorporated by reference in its entirety. Further, stearoyl glutamic acid allows pigment to be easily dispersed in an anhydrous system. Coco aloe treatment also provides good dispersibility.
[0004] However, high quality hydrophobic powders that are made from renewable sources or natural derived products remain evasive and a need exists for new renewable or natural derived powdered compositions exhibiting hydrophobicity.SUMMARY
[0005] In an embodiment, the present disclosure provides a powdered composition. The composition includes a substrate and a surface treatment. The substrate is a particulate having a surface that is neither substantially hydrophobic nor substantially hydrophilic. In an embodiment, the substrate is a particulate having a surface that is neither hydrophobic nor hydrophilic. The surface treated powder is substantially hydrophobic. In an embodiment, the surface treated powder is hydrophobic. The surface treatment can include a Moringa component and an antioxidant. Combining with natural oil, ester or butter to get natural surface treated powders, in particular pigments is the first reported in this field with unique soft and creamy skin feeling in the cosmetic application, especially in loose powder and compact powder, and easily dispersible in many oil systems with high pigment loading.

[0044] Another embodiment of the present disclosure is a process for preparing a natural surface treated powder mixture through blending the pigment / powder with a natural oil, ester, or butter, or any combination thereof, with heating the blend to between 40 ℃ and 80 ℃, preferably to between 50 ℃ and to 70 ℃; and allowing the blend to cool to room temperature. The process may also include the micronization step after drying or grinding, depending on the nature of the powder.
[0045] Hydrophobicity of the powders described herein can be measured in a variety of ways, but one particular process was used throughout the examples articulated below and which gives a relatively quick and straightforward binary answer as to hydrophobicity. In one aspect, hydrophobicity can be shown by attempting to mix the powder with water and being met with the powder refusing to mix with the water and floating on the surface (or otherwise gathering at an interface) . In one specific example, 200 mL of water is introduced into a 250 mL bottle and 1g of a powder is added (e.g. the Example and Comparative Example powders below) , then the bottle is closed and shaken vigorously. If the pigment does not wet and floats on the surface for 12 hours, it is denoted as a good hydrophobicity and is given a grade of “A” . If the pigment is wet completely, the hydrophobicity is null hydrophobicity and is given a grade of “B” .

[0047] Example 1: Hydrophobic coated TiO2 containing Aluminum Hydroxide.
[0048] 94g of aluminum hydroxide coated titanium dioxide provided with UNIPURE WHITE LC888 by Sensient as mentioned above, was blended with 1g water first and then 5g of Moringa Oleifera Seed Extract. The mixture was heated at the temperature of 50 ℃ for around 6 hours after milling at high speed. The hydrophobicity was good and graded A.

[0050] 85.5g of titanium dioxide provided with UNIPURE WHITE LC983 by Sensient as mentioned above, was blended with 6g Aluminum hydroxide, and then blend with 1g water, and then 7.5g of Moringa Oleifera Seed Extract. The mixture was heated at the temperature of 60 ℃for around 6 hours after milling at high speed. The hydrophobicity was good and graded A.

[0062] 84g of SENSIBEAD SI 320 provided with by Sensient, was blended with 6g Aluminum hydroxide first and then 10g of Moringa Oleifera Seed Extract. The mixture was heated at the temperature of 60 ℃ for around 6 hours after milling at high speed. The hydrophobicity was good and graded A.
[0063] Example 9: Talc-Free Natural Compact Powder.
[0064] The treated pigments may be used in a wide variety of applications such as makeup, compact powder, foundation, lipsticks, blush, sunscreen, etc. The formulas are shown based on the total weight percentage of the formulation.
[0065] A formula for compact powder is shown in Table 1. The ingredients in Phase A were combined and blended for 30 seconds by using a blender and repeated until homogeneous. The ingredients in Phase B were added and blended for 20 seconds twice. The ingredients in Phase C were added drop by drop and blended for 30 seconds twice. Scrap with a brush in between blending and Sieve with 60-mesh sieve, then press at 40-45 bars for 5 seconds. In parallel, surface treated pigments in Phase B can be substituted with other natural surface treated pigments from Sensient such as Aloe vera treated, Hydrogenated lecithin treated, and Avocado butter treated pigment (CI 77891, CI 77492, CI 77491, and CI 77499) with the same process to get other compact powders. A person skilled in the cosmetic arts performs sensory evaluations, which are summarized below in Table 4.
[0066] Example 10: Natural Foundation Cream.
[0067] The formula of Natural Foundation Cream is shown in Table 2. The ingredients in Phase A were prepared in advance and heated to 93-95 ℃ and mixed at the same time. The ingredients in Phase B were added into Phase A. The ingredients in Phase C were grinded by the three-roll mill three times and then were added to Phase A+B and mixed until homogeneous. The ingredients in Phase D were added into Phase A+B+C at 80 ℃ and were mixed until homogeneous. The ingredients in Phase E were heated at 80 ℃ and added slowly into Phase A+B+C+D and mixed for 10 min at 1200 rpm and then cooled down to room temperature under mixing. Finally, the ingredients in Phase F were added and mixed for 5 minutes. In parallel, surface treated pigments in Phase C can be substituted with other natural surface treated pigments from Sensient such as Aloe vera treated, Hydrogenated lecithin treated, and Avocado butter treated (CI 77891, CI 7 7492, CI 77491 and CI 77499) with the same process to get the foundation. A person skilled in the cosmetic arts performs sensory evaluations, which are summarized below in Table 4.

hydrophobic nor substantially hydrophilic,wherein the surface-treated powder is substantially hydrophobic,wherein the surface treatment comprises a Moringa component and optionally an antioxidant, wherein the Moringa component is selected from the group consisting of a Moringa oleifera seed extract, a Moringa seed extract, a Moringa oil, a Moringa oleifera oil, a Moringa seed oil, a Moringa oleifera seed oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oleifera oil, a Moringa ester, a Moringa oleifera ester, a Moringa butter, a Moringa oleifera butter, and any combinations thereof.2.The powdered composition of claim 1, the surface treatment further comprising aluminum hydroxide.3.A method of making a powdered composition comprising the steps of:a) blending a substrate with a Moringa component;b) adding an antioxidant to the substrate and the Moringa component;c) heating the mixture of the substrate, the Moringa component, and the antioxidant to a temperature of between 40 ℃ and 80 ℃ or between 50 ℃ and 70 ℃ or between 40 ℃ and 60 ℃;d) cooling the mixture, thereby providing the powdered composition,wherein the Moringa component is selected from the group consisting of a Moringa oleifera seed extract, a Moringa seed extract, a Moringa oil, a Moringa oleifera oil, a Moringa seed oil, a Moringa oleifera seed oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oleifera oil, a Moringa ester, a Moringa oleifera ester, a Moringa butter, a Moringa oleifera butter, and any combinations thereof.4.The method of claim 3, the method further comprising milling the powdered composition.5.The method of claim 3 or 4, the method further comprising suspending the powdered composition in a solvent or media to create a suspension or oleifera seed oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oil, a hydrogenated Moringa oleifera oil, a Moringa ester, a Moringa oleifera ester, a Moringa butter, a Moringa oleifera butter, and any combinations
