Description

VEHICLE DOOR LATCHTechnical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of locks, and in particular, to a vehicle door latch for a vehicle. Background Art

[0002] A vehicle has a plurality of side doors for a person to get on or off the vehicle. A conventional vehicle side door is opened or closed manually. With the improvement of vehicle intelligence, a vehicle door latch begins to have richer functions. For example, the vehicle door latch can be automatically unlocked without manual unlocking. When a vehicle door is closed to a semi-locked position, the door latch may be automatically cinched to complete closing of the vehicle door.

[0003] If the vehicle door is iced and frozen in winter or at a low temperature, such a door latch with automatic unlocking and automatic cinching functions encounters resistance during an automatic unlocking process of the door latch and thus cannot be automatically unlocked. In order to solve this problem, the vehicle door latch further needs to be equipped with an ice-breaking device. Therefore, the vehicle door latch needs to realize three functions of power release, ice-breaking and cinching, which leads to an increasingly complicated structure of the vehicle door latch. For example, Chinese Patent Application No. 202211059310.1 discloses an electrically unlocked vehicle side door latch with a cinching function, including a latch body and a housing. An electric self-opening mechanism is provided on the housing, and a cinching mechanism and an ice-breaking mechanism are provided on the latch body. A self-starting motor is provided on a side of a self-opening gear, and the self-opening gear meshes with a self-opening worm on the self-starting motor. An arc-shaped protrusion on the self-opening gear abuts against a contact surface A of a self-opening rocker arm. A cinching safety rocker arm is riveted to an external open linkage arm via a cinching safety rocker arm shaft. A toggle arm and a toggle arm return spring are provided on the external open linkage arm. A cinching linkage arm is provided on a cinching rocker arm, and the cinching linkage arm is riveted to the cinching rocker arm via a cinching linkage arm shaft. According to this solution, both cinching and ice-breaking functions can be realized, but two cables, that is, two  actuating mechanism, need to be used, resulting in a larger number of parts, a complicated structure and increased costs.Summary of the Invention

[0026] The embodiments of the present invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, many specific details are set forth so that those skilled in the art can more fully understand and implement the present invention. However, it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be implemented without some of these specific details. In addition, it should be understood that the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments described. Instead, it is contemplated that the present invention can be implemented by any combination of the features and elements described below, regardless of whether they relate to different embodiments. Thus, the following aspects, features, embodiments and advantages are merely illustrative and should not be considered as elements or limitations of the claims, unless otherwise explicitly recited in the claims.

[0027] The terms such as "first" and "second" are used below to describe elements in the present application, and these terms are only used to distinguish the individual elements and are not intended to limit the nature, order or number of these elements. The terms "including" and "having" are used to denote an open-ended inclusion and mean that there may be additional elements / components in addition to the listed elements / components.

[0028] FIG. 1 is a plan view showing a vehicle door latch according to the present invention in a first state. The vehicle door latch according to the present invention includes a driving device 1. The driving device 1 is specifically implemented as a circular wheel rotatable around a fixed shaft A in FIG. 1. The wheel may be driven  by a power source, such as an electric motor, to rotate around the shaft A. A cinching lever 2 and a first ice-breaking lever 3 are provided on the driving device 1. Specifically, one end of the cinching lever 2 is rotatably arranged on the driving device 1 around a shaft B via the shaft B, and one end of the first ice-breaking lever 3 is rotatably arranged on the driving device 1 around a shaft C via the shaft C. Therefore, when rotating around the shaft A, the driving device 1 may drive the cinching lever 2 thereon to rotate around the shaft B and drive the first ice-breaking lever 3 to rotate around the shaft C.

[0029] Herein, rotating shafts each fixed relative to a mounting component each are denoted by a capital letter, and of course, the component on which the rotating shaft is mounted can move itself. For example, the shaft A is mounted on a component such as a base plate, and the shaft A is fixed relative to the base plate; and the shaft B and the shaft C are mounted on the driving device 1, and the shaft B and the shaft C are fixed relative to the driving device 1, although the driving device 1 itself can rotate. Rotating shafts that move themselves, such as a shaft a and a shaft b that are described below, each are denoted by a lowercase letter. For the sake of clarity and conciseness, rotating shafts are shown only in FIG. 1, and the rotating shafts each are directly located inside a contour of a shaft indicated thereby.

[0030] The other end of the cinching lever 2 may abut against a cinching lever engaging portion of a catch 6, to prevent the catch 6 from rotating. Since the driving device 1 may rotate in two directions to realize a cinching or ice-breaking function, in order to prevent the cinching lever from interfering with other components during an ice-breaking process, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the catch and the cinching lever are shaped such that during the entire operating process of the vehicle door latch, the other end of the cinching lever 2 may engage with the cinching lever engaging portion of the catch 6 when the driving device 1 rotates counterclockwise for cinching, or the other end of the cinching lever does not interfere with the movement of the catch when the driving device 1 rotates clockwise for ice-breaking.

[0031] As another alternative implementation, a protruding portion may be provided in the middle of the cinching lever 2, so that when the driving device 1 rotates to drive the cinching lever 2 to move therewith, for example, under the action of gravity, different parts of the cinching lever 2 are sequentially in contact with a limiting device. During the movement of the cinching lever 2, when the protruding portion is in contact with the limiting device, the cinching lever 2 is lifted so that the other  end thereof does not affect rotation of the catch 6, or when a portion thereof other than the protruding portion is in contact with the limiting device, the other end of the cinching lever 2 may be in a lower position, so as to be able to engage with the cinching lever engaging portion of the catch 6. The limiting device may be in the form of a limiting column.

[0032] As can be seen from FIG. 1, one end of the first ice-breaking lever 3 is rotatably connected to the driving device 1 via the shaft C, and the other end thereof is pivotally connected to one end of a second ice-breaking lever 4 via the shaft a. Then, the second ice-breaking lever 4 is connected to a third ice-breaking lever 5 at the other end via the shaft b, and the second ice-breaking lever 4 is also connected to a shaft D. Therefore, when the driving device 1 rotates to drive the first ice-breaking lever 3 to rotate, the first ice-breaking lever 3 can drive the second ice-breaking lever 4 to rotate, and the second ice-breaking lever 4 itself can rotate around the shaft D. Therefore, during the rotation, one end of the second ice-breaking lever 4 may be lifted or pulled down, and the other end thereof moves downward or is lifted correspondingly, which drives the third ice-breaking lever 5 to rise or descend correspondingly. One end of the third ice-breaking lever 5 is connected to the second ice-breaking lever 4 via the shaft b, and the other end thereof has a striker engagement portion cooperating with a striker 8.

[0033] In addition, as shown in FIG. 1, in order to limit the movement of the third ice-breaking lever 5, a movement limiting portion is provided on the catch 6. The third ice-breaking lever 5 has a first contour and a second contour that cooperate with the movement limiting portion in its contour. As an exemplary implementation, as can be seen from FIG. 1, the first contour of the third ice-breaking lever 5 is a concave curve, and the second contour is a straight line connected to one end of the first contour.

[0034] The vehicle door latch further includes the catch 6 and a pawl 7. The catch 6 may rotate around a shaft E, and different parts thereof may be engaged with corresponding components during the rotation. The pawl 7 may rotate around a shaft F. Specifically, the catch 6 has the aforementioned cinching lever engaging portion for abutting against one end of the cinching lever 2, the aforementioned striker engagement portion for accommodating the striker 8, and a first pawl engagement portion and a second pawl engagement portion, where the first pawl engagement portion and the second pawl engagement portion are engaged with the pawl 7. In  addition, the aforementioned movement limiting portion for limiting the movement of the third ice-breaking lever 5 is also provided on the catch 6. The movement limiting portion may be in the form of a cylinder.

[0035] When the latch according to the present invention is applied to a vehicle, the vehicle door latch may be arranged on a vehicle door, and the striker 8 may be arranged on a fixed part of the vehicle, such as a vehicle body. The aforementioned driving device 1, second ice-breaking lever 4, catch 6 and pawl 7 may all be arranged on a fixed component such as the base plate.

[0036] The above describes the various components and a relationship therebetween in the vehicle door latch according to the present invention. Based on the above description, an operating process of each function of the vehicle door latch according to the present invention is described below with reference to various states of FIGS. 1 to 4.

[0037] FIG. 1 is a plan view showing the vehicle door latch according to the present invention in a first state, and FIG. 2 is a plan view showing the vehicle door latch according to the present invention in a second state. As can be seen from FIG. 1, in this state, the catch 6 is not fully engaged with the striker 8, the door latch is in a semi-locked state, and the pawl 7 is engaged with the first pawl engagement portion of the catch 6. In this state, if the driving device 1 rotates counterclockwise, the cinching lever 2 may be driven to move via the shaft B, and the portion of the cinching lever 2 other than the protruding portion is in contact with the limiting device during the movement. Therefore, the other end of the cinching lever 2 may be in a lower position and thus abuts against the cinching lever engaging portion of the catch 6, and the cinching lever 2 pushes the catch 6 to rotate around the shaft E with the counterclockwise rotation of the driving device 1, so that the striker engagement portion of the catch 6 is fully engaged with the striker 8, thereby achieving full locking and reaching the second state shown in FIG. 2. The process from semi-locking to full locking may be referred to as a cinching process. The cinching process is suitable for automatic locking of the door latch when the vehicle door is closed to a semi-locking position. During this process, the first ice-breaking lever 3 drives the third ice-breaking lever 5 to move via the second ice-breaking lever 4 when rotating, and the third ice-breaking lever 5 is lifted during the movement, and thus is not in contact with or engaged with the striker 8. After the  cinching process is completed, the door latch is locked, and an electric unlocking or ice-breaking process of the door latch may be continued.

[0038] FIG. 3 is a plan view showing the vehicle door latch according to the present invention in a third state, and FIG. 4 is a plan view showing the vehicle door latch according to the present invention in a fourth state. In FIG. 2, if the driving device 1 rotates clockwise, the third ice-breaking lever 5 descends to engage with the striker 8 and reach a position shown in FIG. 3. In FIG. 3, the pawl 7 is disengaged from the engagement portion of the catch 6, and the driving device 1 rotates in an opposite direction to the cinching process, that is, clockwise, so that the first ice-breaking lever 3 drives the third ice-breaking lever 5 to move via the second ice-breaking lever 4 when rotating, and the third ice-breaking lever 5 always abuts against the striker 8 during the movement. In this process, neither the cinching lever 2 nor the pawl is in contact with or engaged with the catch 6, so that the catch 6 rotates under the joint action of the ice-breaking lever 5 and the striker 8. In this process, abutting against the striker 8 is finally implemented by means of the movement of the three ice-breaking levers, so that the door latch can be unlocked, thus achieving ice-breaking.

[0039] As can be seen from the above, according to the present invention, the cinching function and the ice-breaking function selectively realized by using one single driving device for forward rotation or reverse rotation. According to the design of the present invention, there are a very small number of elements required for the door latch, which reduces costs while realizing the required functions.

[0040] Various modifications and variations of the embodiments disclosed above may be made to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope or spirit of the present invention. Other embodiments of the present invention are apparent to those skilled in the art from the practice of the present invention disclosed in this description. This description and the examples disclosed therein are to be regarded as exemplary only, and the true scope of the present invention is specified by the appended claims and their equivalents.
