Abstract

A human-powered vehicle driven by reciprocating motion, comprising a chassis (1) configured to support at least one drive wheel (2) and a main transmission system (3) arranged on the chassis (1), characterized in that the main transmission system (3) comprises a flexible transmission element (4) arranged in a closed circuit that meshes with a front pinion (5) and a rear pinion (6), and two intermediate points of interaction with the transmission element (4), consisting of a first intermediate point (7) and a second intermediate point (9), the rear pinion (6) being provided with internal unidirectional coupling means, configured to transmit torque only in one direction of rotation, said rear pinion (6) sharing a common shaft (10) with a transmission plate (11), the transmission plate (11) being coupled to a secondary transmission system (12) comprising a secondary flexible element (13) meshed with a pinion (14) fixed to the shaft of the drive wheel (2) to transmit the rotational motion to said traction wheel (2), the first intermediate point (7) comprising a free-spinning pinion (8), the shaft of which is rigidly attached to a transmission lever (15) articulated to the chassis (1) and provided with pedals (16), said transmission lever (15) being configured to describe an alternating back-and-forth motion along a substantially semicircular path without describing a complete rotation, and the second intermediate point (9) comprising a fixing zone of the transmission element (4) to the transmission lever (15), so that the back-and-forth motion of the transmission lever (15) directly drives the transmission element (4) to transmit the motion to the rear pinion (6) and cause the propulsion of the vehicle, the pinion (8) acting only as a guide element of the transmission element (4).
