Abstract

Photoassisted process for the dehalogenation of organohalogenated contaminants present in water. The present invention relates to a photoassisted process using ultraviolet light for the dehalogenation of organohalogenated contaminants in an aqueous matrix in a homogeneous catalytic process employing Fe3 + salts in solution as a catalyst in the presence of oxalic acid as a reducing agent, as well as to the use of said process for the treatment of water contaminated with organohalogenated contaminants.
