Abstract

The invention relates to a multifunctional spindle for a machine tool for machining parts, comprising a housing, a rotary drive, and a tool clamping unit. This unit is located within the housing and can pivot relative to it about an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The problem addressed by the invention is to provide a multifunctional spindle that, particularly during the turning of polygonal profiles, allows for rapid and virtually complete compensation of imbalances and an increase in the positioning accuracy of the axis perpendicular to the drive axis, while ensuring functional reliability. The problem is solved by connecting at least two mutually independent and directly adjacent measuring systems to detect identical position angles of the tool clamping unit.Using these systems, the measured position angle signals can be transmitted, via a transmission unit, through at least two mutually independent transmission paths to a controller of the machine tool equipped with the multifunction spindle. At least one transmission path is used for position control, and at least one other is used to establish the functional reliability of the pivot axis perpendicular to the transmission axis. The transmission unit supplies contactless power to at least two connected measuring systems. The transmission unit consists of at least two parts that rotate relative to each other at the spindle's rotational speed and has a central bore through which fluid channels run.
