Abstract
Description
FOLDING BED WITH RETRACTABLE LEG MECHANISM OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The invention, as stated in the present descriptive report, refers to a folding bed with a retractable leg mechanism that provides the intended function with advantages and characteristics, which are described in detail below, that represent an improvement over the current state of the art. More specifically, the object of the invention focuses on a folding bed that includes a mechanism designed to achieve the concealment and automatic extraction of the support legs when the front of the bed is folded down, and which is distinguished, essentially, by presenting said mechanism a synchronized rotation and translation movement of said support legs with the folding of the bed, by means of which, in the folded position, the legs do not protrude from the perimeter of the board that forms the front in which the bed frame is incorporated, allowing minimizing space and improving the aesthetics to fit into a furniture frame without the existence of recesses, while in the extended position of use, said legs protrude naturally on both sides of the front, providing stable and secure support for the bed. FIELD OF APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION The field of application of the present invention falls within the furniture manufacturing industry, focusing particularly on beds and bedroom furniture, and more specifically on mechanisms for folding beds. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Folding beds are, without a doubt, the ideal solution for making better use of space, and although there are numerous models already on the market, with different characteristics and qualities (metal-melamine), there is always a need to provide and offer solutions to the demands of an increasingly demanding market. In response to and as a consequence of this need, the present invention develops a new retractable leg system which, together with the development of a unique detachable frame, aims to satisfy and solve these demands, providing functional, aesthetic, mechanical, logistical, etc. improvements. It is true that there are folding beds with different leg designs; some simply operate by gravity with a rotating motion, while others are more automated. However, all of them require milling or increased spacing between the front and side if the legs are located at the ends of the bed, or between the front and top if the legs are located at the top. This often limits the final dimensions of the furniture and significantly affects its design. Furthermore, and with reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, at least as far as the applicant is concerned, there is no knowledge of any other folding bed with a retractable leg mechanism, nor any other invention of similar application, that presents technical and structural characteristics equal or similar to those claimed herein, and that offers the enormous possibilities of design, functionality, adaptation and subsequent development and evolution of the final product. EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION The folding bed with retractable leg mechanism proposed by the invention is configured as an ideal solution to achieve the aforementioned objectives, which, at the same time, represents an improvement over what is currently known, with the characterized details that make it possible and that distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims that accompany this description. What the invention proposes, as previously mentioned, is a folding bed which, comprising a board or front on which the bed frame is stored, includes a mechanism intended to achieve the concealment and automatic extraction of two support legs located near the distal end of the front when folding down said front of the bed, placing it from the vertical resting position, where the legs are hidden, to the horizontal position of use where the legs rest on the ground. And from this already known configuration, the bed that is the subject of the present invention is distinguished, essentially, by having the aforementioned mechanism present a synchronized rotation and translation movement of said support legs with the folding of the bed, by which, in the folded position the legs do not protrude from the perimeter of the board that forms the front in which the bed frame is incorporated, allowing to minimize space and improve the aesthetics of the bed to fit into a furniture frame avoiding the existence of recesses, while in the extended position of use said legs protrude naturally on both sides or through the foot area of the front, providing stable and secure support on both sides of the bed. Furthermore, the rotational and translational movements of the legs provided by the bed mechanism do not have to be linear; that is, the rotational movement that turns the legs and the translational movement that positions them separately on both sides of the bed frame can be adjusted independently. This means that the size of the bed frame leg does not interfere with the size of the furniture structure and always fits inside in its closed position without hindering its opening. Furthermore, these movements, being able to be independent, do not condition the width measurement needed in the lateral translation movement of the legs, allowing them to be positioned more or less separated from the bed frame, as appropriate in each case. For all this, and more specifically, the movement is achieved by including, on both sides of the mechanism, a piston, which forces the lateral displacement of the legs through respective rods associated with it and the articulation of the front and inserted in a frame fixed on both sides by the inside of the front, under the bed frame, and a cam that, linked to the opposite end of each rod and to the ends of a transverse axis that joins both legs, activates the rotation of the legs at the convenient moment of descent / ascent of the front. With this, the main advantages of the bed subject to the investment are the elimination of the lateral milling on the fronts of the folding bed, which is, in itself, an advance towards better aesthetics and, no less important, productive optimization. The bed allows for completely straight, smooth, striped, framed, etc. fronts, resulting in better integration into any type of environment. The bed front no longer requires expensive manual edging (chapacanto), or the need for expensive curved edge banding machinery, switching to a more affordable automatic single-parent edge bander (improved quality), saving and optimizing working time. The innovative rotational-translational movement with which the retractable leg mechanism of the bed frame operates hides the bed leg at the back of the front and returns it to its natural position when the bed is opened. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS To complement the description being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, this descriptive document is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by a set of drawings in which, for illustrative and non-limiting purposes, the following has been presented: Figure number 1 shows a schematic front elevation view of the bed of the invention in a closed position, showing the configuration of the front panel without recesses or protruding elements, and perfectly fitted into a furniture frame. Figures 2 to 4 show respective front perspective views of the successive stages of folding the bed, showing the translational and rotational movement generated by the legs. Figure number 5.- Shows a perspective view of an interior portion of the bed where the piston comprising the bed mechanism is located to provide the translational movement of the legs when the front is folded down. Figures 6 and 7 show two views of another portion of the interior of the bed where the cam comprising the bed mechanism is located to provide the turning movement of the leg when the front is folded down, represented with the leg in the folded and lowered or use position respectively. And figure number 8.- Shows a schematic top plan view of the bed as a whole, except for the bed frame, represented in the folded position for use, showing the mechanism of both legs in full. PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION In view of the aforementioned figures, and in accordance with the numbering adopted, one can observe in them an example of a non-limiting embodiment of the folding bed with retractable leg mechanism of the invention, which comprises what is indicated and described in detail below. Thus, as can be seen in said figures, the bed (1) of the invention is of the type that comprises, in a conventional manner, a board that defines a foldable front (2), through an articulated joint (3) at one end thereof that joins it to a piece of furniture (4) or fixed structure, and on whose inner face (2a) a bed frame (5) is incorporated as well as a mechanism for concealing and automatically extracting two support legs (6), located near the distal end of said front (2), opposite the articulated joint (3), such that with the front (2) in the vertical position of rest the legs (6) are hidden behind it and, when it is folded down and moved to the horizontal position of use, the legs (6) rest on the ground. And from this already known configuration, the aforementioned bed mechanism (1) is distinguished by comprising means configured so as to provide a rotational and lateral translational movement of both legs (6) synchronized with the folding down of the front (2) of the bed, by which, in the vertical resting position, the two legs (6) are folded up and supported longitudinally on the inner face (2a) of the front (2) and do not protrude from its perimeter, as can be seen in figures 1, 2 and 6, and in the horizontal position of use, when folding down the front (2), both legs (6), by means of the aforementioned lateral translational and rotational movement, separate from each other so that they protrude on both sides of the front (2), and rotate between 90º and 135º according to the phase of the movement, so that they are positioned perpendicular to it, resting on the ground, as can be seen in figures 4, 7 and 8. To this end, in the preferred embodiment of the invention, said means of the aforementioned mechanism comprise the inclusion, on both sides of the inner face of the front (2), next to the articulated joint (3), of a rod (8) linked, at a proximal end to a joint (9) that pushes the rod (8) which in turn actuates a piston (7) with which the rod (8) is associated at its opposite or disc end, forcing the push or retraction of the rod (8), depending on whether the front (2) goes up or down. Preferably, the assembly of the described mechanism, especially the tubular side rails (10), are attached to the inner face (2a) of the front (2) by means of a frame-shaped frame (13) fixed to said inner face (2a) of the front (2) of the bed (1). In addition, preferably, each leg (6) includes a stop (14) that rests on the front (2) when the leg (2) is in the position of use resting on the ground, as shown in figure 4, preventing the turning motion from going beyond the position perpendicular to said front (2). Preferably, the described rotational and translational movements of the legs (6) provided by the described mechanism can be regulated independently, so that the action of the piston (7), located inside the shaft (12), the rod (8) and the cam (11) can be regulated independently to ensure that the rotational movement and the lateral translational movement occur in a non-linear manner, that is, one before or after the other, as appropriate to separately adjust the measured position of the legs (6) in each phase of the folding of the front (2) to the needs of each case and that they are always hidden behind the front (2) with it in vertical opposition at rest. Additionally, on one or both sides of the articulated joint (3) of the folding front (2), the inclusion of the same is contemplated when including the weight of the bed frame, mattress and bedding. Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to make its explanation more extensive so that any expert in the field may understand its scope and the advantages that derive from it, it being noted that, within its essentiality, it may be put into practice in other forms of embodiment that differ in detail from the one indicated as an example, and which will also achieve the protection sought provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
