Description

[0001] The invention relates to a flat panel hood according to claim 1, a kitchen unit with such a flat panel hood according to claim 10, and a method for mounting such a flat panel hood according to claim 11.

[0002] Kitchen appliances include extractor hoods, which can also be called range hoods. These devices extract and typically filter the fumes produced during cooking processes such as boiling or frying. Such a device usually consists of a housing with a downward-facing intake screen containing a grease filter, such as a disposable non-woven mat or a washable metal filter. The intake screen can also be called a fume hood. The extractor hood also has a fan to draw an airflow containing the fumes from the cooktop into the fume hood and through the grease filter, thus removing as much grease as possible from the fumes. The strength of the airflow can usually be adjusted by the user via a control on the extractor hood itself, by selecting a power level of the fan motor that generates the airflow.

[0003] If it is an exhaust air extractor, the cooking fumes are then vented from the building into the surrounding environment, which can lead to a loss of heat energy. Therefore, for energy efficiency reasons, recirculating extractor hoods are now widespread, especially in private households. In these hoods, the fumes are returned to the room, such as the kitchen, after passing through a grease filter, so that no heat energy is lost to the environment. Recirculating extractor hoods typically also have an additional odor filter, for example, in the form of an activated carbon filter, to remove cooking and frying odors from the fumes as completely as possible, which is perceived as more pleasant by the user.

[0004] In any case, extractor hoods can be designed as ceiling-mounted units, which are attached to the ceiling or a wall of the kitchen above the cooktop. Ceiling-mounted extractor hoods typically have integrated lighting that shines down onto the cooktop and can usually be switched on and off by the user via a control unit on the extractor hood itself.

[0005] An example of a kitchen wall-mounted extractor hood is known from the publication DE 10 2005 002 148 A1. This shows an adjustable fume shield with a depth stop.

[0006] It is also known to design such extractor hoods as flat panels, which are arranged vertically beneath a kitchen cabinet and can be pulled out towards the user for operation. Extractor hoods designed as flat panels can also be called flat panel hoods.

[0007] For example, the publication EP 3 112 763 A1 shows a cooker hood which has at least one pull-out screen which is slidable with respect to a cooker housing for receiving one or more filter elements.

[0008] These flat panel extractor hoods are therefore installed in or below a kitchen cabinet already fitted in the kitchen, or in or below its cabinet body. This can be done by an installer or the user themselves. In any case, the insertion depth of the flat panel extractor hood must be adjusted in the longitudinal direction, i.e., in relation to the cabinet body, i.e., relative to the depth of the cabinet, especially a kitchen cabinet, and relative to the cabinet end panel.

[0009] For this purpose, mechanically fixed stops for the flat panel hood are known, which are visible to the user within the fume duct and located in the airflow of the fumes. Motor-adjustable stops are also known, for example, via a remote control or a mobile device such as a smartphone.

[0010] A disadvantage of having such fixed stops located in the airflow of the steam is that both grease and moisture from the steam can accumulate on the stops. This can impair the function of the stops.

[0011] A disadvantage of this is that the stops are visible to the user when looking up into the steam duct. This may be perceived as visually distracting.

[0012] A further disadvantage is that the stops are difficult to access for repairs. This can increase the repair costs.

[0013] Another disadvantage is that the installation of the stops during the production of the flat panel hood represents an additional assembly effort, which can accordingly increase the manufacturing costs of such flat panel hoods.

[0014] The invention thus addresses the problem of providing a flat panel hood in such a way that the aforementioned disadvantages can be at least partially reduced or avoided. This should be achieved as simply, cost-effectively, easily installed, and / or with a long lifespan as possible. At the very least, an alternative to known flat panel hoods of this type should be created.

[0015] According to the invention, this problem is solved by a flat panel hood with the features of claim 1, by a kitchen unit with the features of claim 10, and by a method with the features of claim 11. Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are set forth in the following dependent claims.

[0016] The invention thus relates to a flat panel hood designed to draw in and filter a vapor, wherein the flat panel hood is further designed to be attached, at least partially, to and / or in a kitchen cabinet, wherein the flat panel hood has a vapor screen designed to be arranged in the vertical direction below the kitchen cabinet and to be moved in the longitudinal direction relative to the kitchen cabinet towards and away from a user by means of at least one extension.

[0017] According to the invention, the flat panel hood is characterized by at least one depth stop element, which is designed to be mounted on and / or in the extension in a variable position in the longitudinal direction, so that the degree of movement of the vapor screen in the longitudinal direction away from the user can be limited by the positioning of the depth stop element.

[0018] The present invention is based on the understanding that the vapor shields of known flat panel extractor hoods can be moved or pulled longitudinally towards the user relative to the housing or duct housing of the flat panel extractor hood, and moved or pushed in the opposite direction away from the user. The longitudinal movement of the vapor shield is designed so that, when the vapor shield is fully retracted, its front panel is flush with the front or front edge of the kitchen cabinet. However, since the flat panel extractor hood and the kitchen cabinet are usually from different manufacturers, deviations from this can occur, such that the front panel of the vapor shield, when fully retracted, is recessed relative to the front edge of the kitchen cabinet, which can negatively affect the user's visual appearance. This can be exacerbated by manufacturing tolerances. Furthermore, the front or front edge of the kitchen cabinet may not be formed by the cabinet body itself, but by a cabinet door, which, for example, has a thickness of 2 cm. This results in a clearly visible recess of the front panel of the extractor hood when the hood is fully retracted, relative to the front of the cabinet door. This, in particular, can significantly detract from the user's visual impression.

[0019] According to the invention, a depth stop element is provided which can be fixedly positioned on and / or in the extension of the extractor hood in such a way that the fully retracted position of the extractor hood can be moved further towards the user in the longitudinal direction. The user can continuously adjust the positioning of the depth stop element so that a flush finish of the front panel of the extractor hood with the respective front edge or front of the kitchen furniture can be achieved, regardless of the manufacturer, manufacturing tolerances, and in particular, whether or not a cabinet door is used.

[0020] A particular advantage here is that the combination of the depth stop element with the extendable vapor screen allows the depth stop element to be accessed for repair or maintenance even when the flat panel hood is installed. In other words, the depth stop element can be accessed for servicing without having to open or disassemble the flat panel hood.

[0021] Another advantage is that the depth stop element is installed by the user and therefore does not have to be installed by the manufacturer of the flat panel hood, which can reduce the installation effort there and save corresponding costs.

[0022] One aspect of the design is that the depth stop element is held movable along the longitudinal direction of the fixed element of the drawer during assembly, particularly before it is fixed in place. This allows the depth stop element to be guided or moved along the fixed element of the drawer.

[0023] According to the invention, the depth stop element is designed to be received and concealed by a cover of the extension when installed. In other words, the depth stop element can be combined with the extension of the extractor hood in such a way that both the depth stop element and the extension are concealed and protected by its cover. This protects the depth stop element from grease and moisture from the extractor fumes, thus avoiding the need for cleaning and improving the durability and functionality of the depth stop element. It also prevents a reduction in the filter area. Furthermore, the depth stop element can be visually concealed from the user, which can improve the appearance of the flat panel hood.

[0024] According to the invention, the depth stop element is designed to be positively locked to a fixed element of the extension, perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and to limit the movement of a movable element of the extension in the longitudinal direction away from the user. This ensures, firstly, that the depth stop element is securely held to the fixed element of the extension, such as a rail of the extension, so that the depth stop element does not need to be held during assembly or positioning. Simultaneously, the longitudinal movement allows the user to position the depth stop element as described above, depending on the application, and then to fasten it there, for example, by means of a screw.

[0025] According to a further aspect of the invention, the depth stop element comprises at least one retaining element, preferably a pair of retaining elements, which is configured to hold the depth stop element on the fixed element of the extension perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and to guide it movably in the longitudinal direction. This can enable an implementation of previously described aspects of the invention.

[0026] According to a further aspect of the invention, the depth stop element is designed to be connected to the fixed element of the extension at an end facing away from the user and to be positioned longitudinally. This makes it possible to connect the depth stop element to the supporting element of the extension, such as a rail, in a way that allows it to move longitudinally and is held perpendicular to it.

[0027] According to a further aspect of the invention, the depth stop element has a U-shaped body designed to allow a movable element of the drawer to pass longitudinally between itself and a fixed element of the drawer. This makes it possible to mount the depth stop element on the fixed element of the drawer, such as a rail, without obstructing the movement of a movable element of the drawer, such as a ball bearing slide. Contact between the depth stop element and the movable element of the drawer can thus occur at any point perpendicular to the U-shaped body.

[0028] According to a further aspect of the invention, the depth stop element includes a stop element designed to limit the movement of a movable element of the extension in the longitudinal direction away from the user. This allows a stop element to be created to limit the movement of the vapor screen or a movable element of the extension, such as a ball bearing slide, as described above.

[0029] According to a further aspect of the invention, the depth stop element is designed to be mounted either longitudinally with the stop element facing the user or longitudinally with the stop element facing away from the user. This can increase the degree to which the longitudinal movement of the vapor screen can be influenced by using the depth stop element, by changing the orientation of the depth stop element during positioning.

[0030] According to a further aspect of the invention, the extension is designed as an extension rail with a fixed element mounted on a shaft housing and a movable element mounted on the vapor screen. This can enable a particularly simple implementation of an extension whose movement can be influenced as described above.

[0031] According to a further aspect of the invention, the flat panel hood has a pair of extensions which run parallel to each other in the transverse direction and are identically designed, and a pair of depth stop elements which are identically designed. This allows the previously described properties and aspects of the depth stop element and the extension to be implemented in pairs. In particular, the use of two extensions in pairs allows for better distribution of the weight of the vapor barrier and improved guidance.

[0032] The present invention also relates to a kitchen unit with a flat panel extractor hood, as described above. This allows a flat panel extractor hood according to the invention to be implemented in a kitchen unit, and its properties and advantages to be utilized there.

[0033] The present invention also relates to a method for mounting a flat panel hood as described above, comprising at least the following steps: Connecting a depth stop element at the end of a drawer facing away from the user to its fixed element, mounting the flat panel hood on a kitchen cabinet, extending a vapor screen and a cover lengthwise towards the user, positioning the depth stop element lengthwise along the drawer, moving a cover lengthwise along the drawer away from the user over the depth stop element, moving the vapor screen lengthwise away from the user until the vapor screen is flush with a front edge of the kitchen cabinet and a movable element of the drawer pushes the depth stop element away from the user, marking the position of a rear edge of the vapor screen on the cover, moving the vapor screen lengthwise away from the user until the cover is accessible to the user, and securing the depth stop element through the cover..

[0034] This provides a method for mounting a flat panel hood according to the invention on or under a kitchen cabinet.

[0035] The cover is arranged on a different plane than the depth stop element and / or a movable element of the extension and can thus be moved independently of the movable element of the extension and / or the depth stop which is not yet fixed.

[0036] When the cover is moved longitudinally along the extension away from the user over the depth stop element, the edge of the cover furthest from the user is moved over the current position of the depth stop element without the depth stop element itself being moved.

[0037] The depth stop element can be slidably held by a fixed element of the drawer slide. This makes it possible to move the depth stop element along the extension direction during installation on the fixed element of the drawer slide.

[0038] An embodiment of the invention is shown purely schematically in the drawings and is described in more detail below. It shows Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section through a kitchen cabinet with a flat panel hood according to the invention inserted in a first position (left) and in a second position (right); Figure 2 shows a perspective view of an extended flat panel hood according to the invention from a low angle (left) with two detail views of a depth stop element; Figure 3 shows a perspective detail view of a first assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle; Figure 4 shows a perspective detail view of a second assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle; Figure 5 shows a perspective detail view of a third assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle; Figure 6 shows a perspective detail view of a fourth assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle; Figure 7 shows a perspective detail view of a fifth assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle;Figure 8 shows a perspective detail of a sixth assembly step of the depth stop element from a low angle in two variants; Figure 9 shows a flowchart of a method according to the invention for mounting a flat panel hood according to the invention on or under a kitchen unit.

[0039] The figures above are viewed in Cartesian coordinates. A longitudinal direction X extends, which can also be called depth X or length X. Perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X extends a transverse direction Y, which can also be called width Y. Perpendicular to both the longitudinal direction X and the transverse direction Y extends a vertical direction Z, which can also be called height Z and corresponds to the direction of gravity. The longitudinal direction X and the transverse direction Y together form the horizontal X,Y, which can also be called the horizontal plane X,Y.

[0040] A flat panel hood 1 according to the invention is considered, which represents a special design of a range hood or extractor fan. The flat panel hood 1 has a shaft housing 10, which forms a vapor shaft 11 through which vapors can be drawn in by means of a fan (not shown) of the flat panel hood 1. The flat panel hood 1 also has a vapor screen 12, which can also be referred to as an intake screen 12 and is designed to be continuously adjustable in the longitudinal direction X. In the longitudinal direction X towards the front, i.e., facing a user, the vapor screen 12 has a front plate (not shown) as a front panel, which closes off the vapor screen 12 or the flat panel hood 1 at the front.

[0041] The vapor screen 12 is connected to the shaft housing 10 of the flat panel hood 1 via a pair of extensions 14, allowing the vapor screen 12 to be pulled towards and pushed away from the user in the longitudinal direction X. The extensions 14 are arranged laterally on both sides in the transverse direction Y between the vapor screen 12 and the lower end of the shaft housing 10, with a rail (not shown) fixed to the shaft housing 10 as the stationary element of each extension 14. A ball bearing slide (not shown) runs in the rail as the movable element of each extension 14, which is itself fixed to the vapor screen 12. The extensions 14 are each concealed and protected by a U-shaped cover 13.

[0042] The vapor screen 12, which is movable translationally in the longitudinal direction X, is arranged extending in the vertical direction Z below a base plate (not labeled) of the shaft housing 10. The base plate has a through-opening (not labeled) in the vertical direction Z, which leads from below the base plate into the vapor shaft 11. In the vertical direction Z above the through-opening of the base plate, a filter (not shown) is arranged horizontally in the X, Y direction as a grease filter, which is removable and held by a spring-loaded filter holder (not shown).

[0043] The flat panel extractor hood 1 is arranged within a kitchen unit 2 in the form of a kitchen cabinet 2 or a wall cabinet 2, between its rear cabinet body 20 and its lower cabinet body 24. The kitchen unit 2 also has a front cabinet body 21, two side cabinet bodies 22, a top cabinet body 23, and a cabinet door 25, which is pivotally mounted laterally on the front cabinet body 21 and can close the interior of the kitchen unit 2 longitudinally X towards the user. The kitchen unit 2 is fixedly attached to a wall 3 of a kitchen.

[0044] Such a flat panel hood 1, when installed, should be flush with the front surface of the kitchen cabinet 2 in the longitudinal direction X towards the user. It should be noted that the front surface of the kitchen cabinet 2 is defined either by the front edge A of the front cabinet body 21, for example in the case of a kitchen shelf open at the front, see for example.Figure 1 left, or can also be formed from the front edge B of the furniture door 25, see for example Figure 1 on the right, as is the case in the exemplary embodiment under consideration. In this case, however, the kitchen unit 2 ends further forward in the longitudinal direction X, facing the user. Accordingly, in this case, the flat panel hood 1 must be mounted further towards the user in the longitudinal direction X by the thickness of the cabinet door 25 than in the case where the kitchen unit 2 is directly flush with the front cabinet body 21.

[0045] In order to use the same flat panel hood 1 in both installation situations without having to modify the flat panel hood 1 itself or its vapor screen 12 during installation, the flat panel hood 1 according to the invention has a pair of depth stop elements 15. These elements are fixedly attached to the rails of the extensions 14 and limit the movement of the ball bearing slides of the extensions 14 in the longitudinal direction X away from the user or towards the wall 3. This ensures that the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is flush with the kitchen cabinet 2 when the vapor screen 12 is fully extended. The depth stop elements 15 can be positioned along the rails in the extensions 14 such that the degree of movement of the extensions 14 in the longitudinal direction X is limited accordingly.

[0046] For this purpose, the depth stop elements 15 can be inserted into the respective fixed rail of the drawers 14 from the rear in the longitudinal direction X before the flat panel hood 1 is mounted on or in the kitchen cabinet 2. This can be achieved by connecting 100 of the respective depth stop element 15 at an end of the respective drawer 14 facing away from the user to its fixed element. One body 15a of the depth stop elements 15 is U-shaped, so that the depth stop elements 15, with their two open, thickened ends 15b of the body 15a, engage positively in corresponding guides (not shown) of the drawer rails 14 and can be moved in the longitudinal direction X. The U-shaped bodies 15a of the depth stop elements 15 are designed such that the respective ball bearing slide of the drawers 14 can be guided under the U-shaped body 15a of the depth stop elements 15.

[0047] To create contact or a limit for the respective ball bearing extension of the slides 14 by the depth stop elements 15, each depth stop element 15 has a stop element 15c in the form of a lip 15c, which extends perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction X into the interior of the U-shaped body 15a. The stop elements 15c are arranged at the edges of the U-shaped body 15a along the longitudinal direction X. Furthermore, the depth stop elements 15 are symmetrical along the longitudinal direction X. By means of the stop element 15c arranged at each edge, the position of the stop element 15c relative to the respective slide 14 can be changed by rotating the depth stop element 15 by approximately the length of the depth stop element 15, see for example. Figure 2upper and lower right, which can correspondingly increase the degree of change in the positioning of the vapor screen 12. For example, by aligning the stop element 15a in the longitudinal direction X away from the user or towards the wall 3, a clearance of 2 mm to 18 mm can be created, and by aligning the stop element 15a in the longitudinal direction X towards the user or away from the wall 3, a clearance of 19 mm to 50 mm can be created.

[0048] The assembly of such a flat panel hood 1 according to the invention can now be carried out such that, in the unassembled state of the flat panel hood 1, the two depth stop elements 15 are inserted into the rails of the extensions 14 in the longitudinal direction X from the rear, i.e., from the side facing away from the vapor screen 12, in a direction of movement C of the extensions 14 and held there. This can be done with the stop element 15c leading if the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is to be flush with the front edge B of the cabinet door 25 when the flat panel hood 1 is assembled. If, on the other hand, the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is to be flush with the front edge A of the front cabinet body 21 when the flat panel hood 1 is assembled, the depth stop elements 15 are inserted into the rails of the extensions 14 with the stop element 15c pointing to the rear, i.e., facing away from the vapor screen 12, see for example. Figure 2 top right and bottom right.

[0049] The flat panel hood 1 can now be mounted in or on the kitchen cabinet 2 as usual. The vapor shield 12 and the covers 13 of the drawers 14 are then pulled forward towards the user in a single step 300 in the longitudinal direction X in the direction of movement C, in order to expose the depth stop elements 15 and make them accessible to the user. Once the extension 300 has been completed, the two depth stop elements 15 can be moved forward along the rails of the drawers 14 in the direction of movement C, see for example. Figure 3 . Now the depth stop elements 15 can be brought in the longitudinal direction X to a desired position D, in which the depth stop elements 15 are flush with the shaft housing 10, for example, see for example Figure 4This can be achieved by positioning the depth stop element 15 in the longitudinal direction X along the extension 14. Subsequently, the covers 13 can be pushed backwards or away from the user over the depth stop elements 15 in a single step 500 in the direction of movement C in the longitudinal direction X, see [reference]. Figure 5 , which means that the depth stop elements 15 are not changed in their positioning.

[0050] Now the vapor screen 12 can be pushed backwards by the user in a step 600 in the longitudinal direction X so that the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is flush with the front edge B of the furniture pieces 25, see for example Figure 6, whereby the ball bearing slides of the slides 14 each come into contact with the stop elements 15 c of the depth stop elements 15 and thus push the depth stop elements 15 forward in the longitudinal direction X (not shown). This brings the depth stop elements 15 into the desired position in order to limit the movement of the vapor screen 12 of the flat panel hood 1 in the longitudinal direction away from the user precisely so that the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is flush with the front edge B of the furniture pieces 25, see for example Figure 1 right and Figure 6 .

[0051] To fix the two depth stop elements 15 in this position, the user can, in step 700, use a pen 4 to mark the rear edge of the vapor screen 12 on each of the covers 13 with a transverse line in the transverse direction Y as mark E. Then, in step 800, the user can pull the vapor screen 12 fully forward in the longitudinal direction X to gain sufficient access to the marked area of the covers 13, under which the positioned depth stop elements 15 are located. The user can then drill a hole F through the covers 13 at each of the marks E, penetrating both the covers 13 and the depth stop elements 15.Depending on the orientation of the stop element 15c of the depth stop elements 15, the bore F can be located, for example, 10 mm in front of or behind the mark E in the longitudinal direction X, in order to meet the U-shaped body 15a of the depth stop element 15 as centrally as possible in the longitudinal direction X. A screw can now be inserted through each of the bores F and screwed into the respective rail of the extensions 14 to firmly connect the covers 13, the depth stop elements 15, and the rails of the extensions 14, so that the respective depth stop element 15 can be fixed through the respective cover 13.

[0052] Below the covers 13, the respective ball bearing slides of the extensions 14 can now be moved in the longitudinal direction X away from the user or towards the wall 3 up to the stop element 15c of the respective depth stop element 15, but no further. This ensures that when using the flat panel hood 1 according to the invention, the vapor screen 12 can always be moved or pushed away from the user or towards the wall 3 in the longitudinal direction X far enough that the front panel of the vapor screen 12 is flush with the front edge B of the furniture pieces 25, see for example Figure 1 right and Figure 6 .

[0053] The positioning of the depth stop elements 15 can be continuously adjusted depending on the specific kitchen cabinet 2 to ensure a flush finish with any kitchen cabinet 2. At the same time, the depth stop elements 15 can be concealed from the user by the covers 13, which can improve the visual appearance of the flat panel hood 1. The depth stop elements 15 can also be protected from steam by the covers 13, preventing liquids and grease from adhering to the depth stop elements 15, as well as to the rails and ball bearing slides of the drawers 14, thus promoting and ensuring their long-term functionality. Furthermore, the depth stop elements 15 can be easily accessed later, for example for repairs, without having to dismantle the steam screen 12 or the flat panel hood 1.Furthermore, the assembly effort described above can be shifted from the manufacturer of the flat panel hood 1 to the user, which can reduce the factory manufacturing and assembly costs of the flat panel hood 1 according to the invention.
