Abstract

First, a stator structure for an electric machine is provided. This structure comprises a circumferential support with an outer rim to house several electrical windings. The circumferential support includes an air inlet, an air distribution channel, and several axial openings. The air inlet provides a passage between the air distribution channel and the outside of the stator structure. The air distribution channel extends through a portion of the circumferential support to distribute the airflow from the inlet circumferentially. The axial openings provide a passage between the air distribution channel and the outer side of the outer rim to guide the airflow from the air distribution channel to the outer side. These axial openings are sized and spaced such that the airflow is practically uniform along the circumference of the outer side of the outer rim.Secondly, an electric generator is provided with a stator structure that fits any of the examples described here.
