Abstract

A continuous or semi-continuous green, integrated bioprocess for the simultaneous extraction and distinct separation of three high-value phytochemically differentiated bioactive fractions—designated as Coffee Wax, Coffee Oil, and Coffee Tar—from organic waste of Coffee Arabica (spent coffee grounds, silver skins, & husks) is disclosed. The feedstock is stabilized to a critical moisture threshold of less than 10% by weight and subjected to a singlepass superctitical carbon dioxide (SC-CO:) extraction at 8 pressure of 250—350 bar and a temperature of 45—50°C in the absolute absence of synthetic organic co-solvents. The solute-laden SC-CO: fluid stream is sequentially decompressed through a series of three thermodynamic separation zones operating at cascading pressure and temperature steps. This precise, tunable fractional precipitation isolates 8 solid structural wax (melting point 55—65°C) in ል first separator maintained at 150—180 bar and 50—55°C to preserve it [በ 8 flow able, molten state a liquid golden oil rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and native caffeine in ል second separator maintained at 60—80 bar and 35—40°C; and 8 highly viscous, resinous, diterpene- and polyphenolic-rich antioxidant mass in a third separator maintained at 5—10 bar and 25—30°C. ፐከ6 resulting materials are 100% solvent-free and thermally pristine.
