Solar Powered Automatic Wheelchair with Dual Charging System.

Abstract

According to the invention, an Arduino-based solar-powered automatic wheelchair is provided for improving mobility and independence for people with disabilities. It can be converted from manual wheelchair by adding the materials that shown on fig. 1 or it can be designed as on the picture on fig. 1. The system integrates solar energy with an embedded control system to provide a cost-effective and energy-efficient alternative to conventional electric wheelchairs. The wheelchair is controlled using 8 joystick interface and powered by 8 rechargeable battery supported by 8 solar panel and an additional AC charging system. The AC charging port allows the rechargeable battery to be charged from conventional electrical power when sunlight is unavailable. The proposed system [5 specifically designed for affordabilty and adaptability in developing countries such as Ethiopia.
