Reusable Ostomy Bag System.

Abstract

According to the invention a reusable ostomy bag system comprises a flexible multilayer drainable pouch and a continuous oval waist belt strap. The pouch has an integrated raised stoma aperture ring with serrated cut-to-fit notch guides, a fold-and-press drain tab at its upper end, a permanently sealed lower end, a charcoal odour filter patch and two lateral clip brackets. The belt clips onto the brackets and holds the aperture ring against the peristomal skin by gentle compression, so that no adhesive and no separate flange are required. The system can be sterilised by boiling in water and makes affordable, reusable ostomy care possible in lowresource settings where single-use ostomy appliances are unaffordable or unavailable.
