Managing Data Traffic Through a Service IP Address to Multiple Service Pods

Abstract

Use of a list, which comprises at least pairs formed of a gateway identifier and a service pod identifier, for a service enables that data packets addressed to the service can reliably be routed to a proper service pod among a plurality of service pods. When a data packet from a client device and addressed to the service is received (203), the data packet comprising at least a gateway identifier associated with the client device, the list is accessed (204) to find a pair having a matching gateway identifier. When the pair is found, the data packet is transmitted (206) to a service pod using the service pod identifier associated with the matching gateway identifier in the pair.
