Device and method for measuring corneal hysteresis

Abstract

A measurement device (100) for measuring corneal hysteresis, the measurement device comprising: a movement coil (120) arranged within a housing (102) of the measurement device; a probe (110) movably supported within the housing. A first displacement sensor (124) configured to measure a displacement (D1) of a surface (192) of the cornea; and a controller (130) configured to: provide a control signal to the movement coil to apply an increasing force to the surface of the cornea, with the probe tip, during a first period of time and a decreasing force to the surface of the cornea, with the probe tip, during a second period of time which occurs after the first period of time, receive the measured displacement of the surface of the cornea during the first period of time and during the second period of time from the first displacement sensor and use the received measured displacement and respective forces used during the first and the second period time as the measured corneal hysteresis.
