A veneer assembly and method for securing veneer panels

Abstract

A veneer assembly for covering a structure, comprising a plurality of veneer panels having a rear face comprising grooves, each groove extending vertically along the rear face and comprising a first and second inner sidewalls, wherein in use, a front face of the veneer panel is exposed, and the rear face faces the structure; and a plurality of connectors, each having an attachment portion attachable with a fastener to the structure; and a retaining portion having an elongated body with two sidewalls shaped and configured to snugly fit in one of the grooves of the veneer panel. When inserted in the groove, the two sidewalls of the retaining portion are frictionally engaged with the two inner sidewalls of the groove. When two rows of veneer panels are stacked and secured with the connectors, the retaining portion of the connector securing the lower row does not interfere with the upper row.
