Description

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to the use as a support for graffiti of a polymeric film consisting of a non-fluorinated polymer, said polymeric film comprising a first self-adhesive side intended to be applied to at least one surface of an object or building and a second side intended to receive a layer of graffiti.

[0002] The present invention also relates to a method of depositing graffiti on a polymeric film as described above. STATE OF THE ART

[0003] Born in the 1960s across the Atlantic, street art, and in particular the graffiti movement, really took off in the 1970s. Soon, inscriptions and drawings appeared on buildings, mailboxes, telephone booths, tunnels, buses and subway trains.

[0004] However, due to their permanent nature, problems related to damage to street furniture and the cost of removing these inscriptions quickly arose, contributing to a negative perception of this type of expression, now considered vandalism, and leading to the stigmatization of graffiti artists as a whole. Local authorities have therefore had to adapt and find solutions to combat this damage.

[0005] Self-adhesive polymeric films are known from prior art in applications as a support for decoration and / or visual communication, or as protection on objects usually subject to malicious acts, such as trains, buses or other vehicles.

[0006] Documents EP 2351892, WO 2014133834, and WO 2014186135 describe, for example, printable, multi-layer, self-adhesive decorative films intended for use on the external surfaces of moving vehicles. However, because they have an anti-graffiti protective coating on their surface, these films are not suitable for use as a medium for free expression; quite the opposite.

[0007] Thus, there is a real need to provide an alternative for all players in the graffiti movement so that they can express themselves through street painting without causing any inconvenience or damage, and thus enhance their image.

[0008] The present invention aims to meet this need by offering a polymer film that combines the ephemeral culture of graffiti with the possibility for companies and communities to enhance their heritage for the duration of an event and to allow artists to express their art in places impossible to paint, such as historical monuments managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN).

[0009] Thanks to its self-adhesive nature, the film according to the present invention is particularly easy to use and accessible to all types of users, amateur or professional. In particular, applying the film to various surfaces is very simple, as is removing the film when the artwork needs to be taken down. The second side is made of a material particularly suitable for applying paint, so the quality of the artwork is not affected by the use of such a support. SUMMARY

DEFINITIONS

[0025] In the present invention, the terms below are defined as follows: "Self-adhesive"This concerns any material, one side of which is coated with a product that adheres without wetting by simple pressure. For the purposes of this invention, said first self-adhesive side is self-adhesive because it is coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). For the purposes of this invention, said first self-adhesive side is self-adhesive because it is electrostatically charged. "Extension at the point of rupture" This refers to a material's ability to elongate before breaking under tensile stress. Denoted A%, it is a dimensionless characteristic of materials. A% is determined by a tensile test. "Movie" relates to a sheet of non-metallic material with a thickness of less than 1 mm, preferably less than 0.5 mm. "Strength of adherence"This relates to the peel strength after 24 hours of application of the self-adhesive film to a substrate. Expressed in N / m, it is measured according to standard NF EN 2810-2 or ISO 8510-2. For the purposes of this invention, a film is considered to have sufficient adhesion strength to prevent it from detaching on its own from its substrate, but not so strong as to prevent removal by a user, if its adhesion strength is less than 2000 N / m, preferably less than 1200 N / m. "Graffiti"Graffiti refers to a form of communication and artistic expression generally representing a character, a landscape, a set of letters, a mark, and / or a signature. It is a street art technique consisting of a drawing or inscription painted, drawn, or engraved on public or private property, monuments, walls, or any other surface not usually used for this purpose. By extension, "graffiti" encompasses a work that uses the same artistic codes, even if it is created on a different surface. For the purposes of this invention, graffiti consists of an inscription or drawing made by a user on a surface using felt-tip pens, markers, or acrylic or water-based spray paint. "Gross weight" This relates to the film's strength, corresponding to its surface mass calculated in g / m². The lower its grammage, the more flexible the film will be. "Liner"concerns a non-stick film or preferably a sheet of paper coated with a non-stick layer intended to cover and protect said adhesive layer on the surface of said polymeric film before its application. "Paint" relates to a coloring material composed of a pigment or dye, a binder, and optionally a solvent, used to coat a surface and intended to be applied by a user (generally a human being such as an adult or a child). For the purposes of the invention, the term "paint" does not include, in particular, printing inks. For the purposes of the invention, the term "paint" This does not include, in particular, coloring materials intended to be applied by a machine. "Phosphorescence" concerns the phenomenon observed when a material continues to emit light after being illuminated. For the purposes of this invention, the addition of "phosphorescent pigments"gives the self-adhesive polymer film the ability to store light during the day and then gradually release it in the dark, thus highlighting graffiti artwork. "Colored pigments" This concerns chemical substances, of mineral or organic origin, natural or synthetic, that are coloring and insoluble in the medium they color. Once incorporated into the mass of the polymer film, they allow it to be colored. "Polymer" This concerns a carbon-based material made from macromolecules, that is, molecules composed of repeating smaller units (monomers). The choice of monomers and the final molecular weight of the polymer determine the physical and mechanical properties of the final polymer. "Non-fluorinated polymer"concerns a polymer comprising less than 1% of fluorinated monomer (i.e. a monomer comprising at least one fluorine atom), preferably less than 0.1%, more preferably less than 0.01%, even more preferably 0%. "Tensile strength" This relates to a material's ability to withstand tensile loads. Expressed in N / m, it is equal to the maximum stress the material experiences in a tensile test. For the purposes of this invention, a film is considered sufficiently stretchable by hand and able to be applied to a curved or angular surface if its elongation at break is greater than 100% and its tensile strength is less than 6000 N / m.
