[0001] — The present invention relates to a wheel arch protection trim posi- tionable inside a rolling vehicle of the van type with overlap by the exterior of a wheel arch of said rolling vehicle for the protection of said arch wheel as well as a rolling vehicle equipped with such a covering.

This covering 1 makes it possible, on the one hand, to protect the wheel arch, and on the other hand, to provide, in the state fixed to the longitudinal wall of the rolling vehicle, a support surface that can serve as a storage surface, a seat or other surface. This protective covering 1, once positioned inside the rolling vehicle, is positioned to overlap from the outside on the wheel arch 20 so that it remains visible from inside the vehicle and then constitutes the visible surface of the wheel arch 20. Generally, such a vehicle is equipped with two protective coverings 1, namely one per wheel arch 20. This protective covering 1 is initially in the form of a multi-layer composite blank 2, as illustrated in [Fig. 3]. This multi-layer composite blank 2 comprises a layer 12 of synthetic material sandwiched between two layers 13 of metal. The shaping by folding the blank 2 makes it possible to obtain a polyhedral box 3 conforming to that shown in [Fig. 6]. This polyhedral box 3 of generally parallelepiped shape comprises a top face 4, a bottom face 5, two lateral faces 6, a front face 7 and a rear face 8. The rear faces 8 and 5 from the bottom of the box 3 are open faces. Each face 4, 6, 7, other than the open faces is connected to at least one other face by a fold line 9 formed by a thinning of the blank 2, as illustrated in [Fig.7]. The lateral faces 6 and the top face 4 are each provided, at their edge 16 delimiting the rear face 8, with an external peripheral wing 10 forming, with the associated lateral face 6 or top face 4, an angle a of between 70° and 120° to allow a surface-mounted positioning of the covering 1 covering the wheel arch 20 to be protected, as illustrated in [Fig.2].The angle formed between each lateral face 6 and the top face 4 is provided internally with a flap 11 made in one piece with the lateral face 6 or the top face 4 to which it is connected by a folding line 9. To complete the whole, each side face 6 and the top face 4 of the box 3 are provided, at their edge 16 delimiting the rear face 8, with at least one tab 14 made in one piece with said edge 16. The tab 14 of each lateral face 6 is superimposed with a tab 14 of the top face 4. Thus, each tab 14 is provided with a bore 15. The bores 15 of the tabs 14 of a superposition of tabs 14 are arranged in coincidence to form a passage for receiving a member of said tabs 14 between them. This connecting member is here in the form of a self-tapping screw but could have been replaced by a rivet. Finally, the front face of the box is also provided, at the level of its edge delimiting the lower face, with an external peripheral wing forming with the associated face an angle of between 70° and 120°. The conformation by folding of the blank as shown in [Fig.3], to obtain a box, as illustrated in [Fig.6], can be carried out as shown in Figures 4 and 5. Thus, initially, the parts of the blank 2 intended to form the lateral faces 6 of the box 3 are positioned at right angles and on the same side of the part of the blank 2 intended to form the closed front face 7 of the box 3. The flaps 11 are then folded towards the inside of the U formed by the lateral faces and the front face. These flaps 11 here each equip a lateral face of the box 3 but could have, in an equivalent manner, equipped the top face 4 of said box without departing from the scope of the invention. The part of the blank intended to form the top face 4 of the box 3 is then folded at a right angle to the front face to be applied to said flaps 11. The wings 10 are then folded at a right angle to the face with which they are associated in the direction of the outside of the box to form an application wing against a longitudinal wall of the box or against the floor of the vehicle for the wing associated with the front face of the box. These wings are pre-drilled to allow application positioning inside the rolling vehicle by simple screwing. Finally, the tab 14 of each side face is superimposed with a tab 14 of the top face to form a superposition of tabs whose holes are in coincidence in the superimposed state and allow the passage of a screw connecting the tabs between them. The conformation of the box is then completed and the fixing of the latter to the vehicle can be carried out by simply screwing the wings to the rolling vehicle as illustrated in [Fig.2]. This fixing by screwing is carried out after positioning the box from the interior of the rolling vehicle against the wheel arch.

1. Covering (1) for protecting the passage of a rouc positionable at the interior of a rolling vehicle (21) of the overlapping van type of a wheel arch (20) of said rolling vehicle (21) for protection of said wheel arch (20), characterized in that said covering (1) comprises a multi-layer composite blank (2) conformable by folding and forming in the shaped state a polyhedral box (3) comprising a top face (4), one bottom face (5), two side faces (6), one front face (7) and a rear face (8), the rear faces (8) and (5) of below the box (3) being open faces, at least each face (4, 6, 7) other than the open faces, being connected to at least one other face by a fold line (9) formed by a thinning of the blank (2), and at least the lateral faces (6) and the top face (4) being each provided at their edge (16) with delimitation of the face (8) rear of a wing (10) external peripheral forming with the face (6, 4) associated with an angle (œ) between 70° and 120°, the angle formed between each side face (6) and the top face (4) being provided with inte- front of a flap (11) made in one piece with the face (6) side or the top face (4) to which it is connected by a line (9) of folding.

2. Wheel arch protection covering (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the multilayer composite blank (2) comprises at least at least one layer (12) of synthetic material sandwiched between two layers (13) of metal.

Wheel arch protection trim (1) according to one of the claims- indications 1 or 2, characterized in that each lateral face (6) and the face (4) from above the box (3) are provided, at the level of their edge (16) with delimitation of the rear face (8), of at least one tab (14) produced in one piece with said edge (16), the tab (14) of each face (6) side being superimposed with a tab (14) of the top face (4).

Wheel arch protection covering (1) according to claim 3, characterized in that each leg (14) is provided with a hole (15), the holes (15) of the legs (14) of a superposition of legs (14) being arranged in coincidence to form a passage for receiving a member, such as a screw, for connecting said tabs (14) together.

Wheel arch protection covering (1) according to one of the claims indications 1 to 4, characterized in that the front face (7) of the box (3) is also provided, at the level of its edge delimiting the face of the below (5), of an external peripheral wing (10) forming with the face associated with an angle between 70° and 120°.
