Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Fitted sheet Technical field
[0001] The invention relates to the technical field of textiles for difficult environments and in particular fitted sheets for these environments. State of the art
[0002] A fitted sheet is intended to provide its user with a surface on which to sleep while protecting the mattress. However, depending on the environment of use, it must be able to be properly held on said mattress. Indeed, if the fitted sheet can be easily removed, it could be misused, especially in a difficult environment such as a prison or a hospital setting.
[0003] It is known, to address this problem, to use fitted sheets comprising four split corners each comprising a "Velcro". When the edges of the fitted sheet are inserted onto the mattresses, the "Velcro" can hold the fitted sheet in place. However, this type of fitted sheet can only be used on a mattress independent of its bed base and can prevent the use of strap loops. Indeed, the fitted sheets known in the prior art cannot be installed on single-piece beds, i.e. comprising a mattress and a bed base forming a single piece. In addition, it must prevent the fitted sheet from moving relative to the mattress, particularly when a sleeping person makes a large number of movements, or prevent involuntary tearing caused by movements of people who may be very agitated, such as residents of psychiatric hospitals.
[0004] The invention therefore falls within this context and seeks to resolve all of the aforementioned drawbacks. Thus, the invention seeks to propose a secure fitted sheet which can prevent it from being easily removed from the mattress while allowing it to be positioned on any type of mattress and / or support and the positioning of which allows the use of strap loops. Presentation of the invention.
[0005] The subject of the invention is a fitted sheet comprising a cover with an enveloping peripheral edge intended to be folded down against a bed, said cover comprising at least one corner provided with a sewing system adapted to hold said cover on the bed, in that the corner comprises a first part and a second part separated from each other by a notch, and in that the sewing system of each corner comprises a first seam adapted to form a first hem defining a first fold of the first part of the angle at the right of the notch, and a second seam adapted to form a second hem defining a second fold of the second part of the angle at the right of the notch; a third seam adapted to assemble the first hem and the second hem along the notch; a fourth seam adapted to assemble the first fold of the first hem and the second fold of the second hem.
[0006] The peripheral border can be adapted to cover a bed, for example a mattress. The bed can be two-piece, that is to say comprising an independent mattress and bed base. The bed can comprise only a mattress, said mattress then being intended to be positioned on a medical bed or not. In these two embodiments, the fitted sheet can be folded normally under the bed base. The fitted sheet can allow the bed to be tucked in while still having access to the strap pass-through system arranged under the bed.
[0007] The bed can be a single piece, that is to say that the mattress and the bed base can form a single piece. In this embodiment, the fitted sheet can allow the bed to be tucked in while still having access to the strap pass-through system located under the bed.
[0008] The fitted sheet may advantageously have four corners. The four corners may be substantially perpendicular to the plane of extension of the fitted sheet and form substantially right angles so as to wrap around the mattress in order to keep the fitted sheet in position on the mattress.
[0009] The first and second hems may be defined by a seam at the fold. The first hem and the second hem may be intended to face each other.
[0010] The fourth seam may be intended to reinforce the angle and thus prevent the seams from tearing.
[0011] Advantageously, the fitted sheet comprises at least two comfort layers and two layers of fabric on either side, and in that the third seam is adapted to hold together the two comfort layers and the two layers of fabric of each of the folds during the assembly of the first hem and the second hem.
[0012] Each comfort layer may have a density of approximately 80 g / m2.
[0013] Advantageously, the fitted sheet has four comfort layers and two layers of fabric.
[0014] Using four comfort layers and two fabric layers can provide a fitted sheet that is both soft and comfortable. Using four comfort layers and two fabric layers can provide a fitted sheet that is difficult to twist to prevent the user from injuring themselves or trying to hang themselves with it.
[0015] Advantageously, the third seam is adapted to hold together eight comfort layers and four layers of fabric.
[0016] The third seam can be used to stiffen the angle.
[0017] Advantageously, each comfort layer comprises at least 80% aromatic polyamide, 10 to 19% aramid and 1 to 5% antistatic fibers.
[0018] The composition makes it possible to meet the Ml standard, i.e. the cover is non-flammable and does not release smoke in the event of a fire.
[0019] Aramid can be adapted for tear resistance.
[0020] Antistatic fibers can make the fitted sheet more comfortable and can help prevent the formation of static electricity due to friction between the fitted sheet and the mattress cover.
[0021] Advantageously, the aromatic polyamide is a meta-aramid.
[0022] Advantageously, the fitted sheet is devoid of any means of attachment.
[0023] The absence of attachment means can make it possible to avoid the use of elastic bands for example and therefore the risks for the user.
[0024] The fitted sheet can be held on the mattress by the peripheral edge of the fitted sheet against the mattress.
[0025] Advantageously, the fitted sheet has on its surface a cross seam adapted to form quilting.
[0026] Quilting can help improve the way the different layers are held together. Quilting can help stiffen the fitted sheet by keeping the layers together better and thus make it difficult for the fitted sheet to twist.
[0027] Advantageously, the peripheral edge of the cover has a dimension of at least 30 cm.
[0028] This dimension can ensure effective support of the fitted sheet on the mattress and / or on the box spring.
[0029] Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of manufacturing a fitted sheet comprising the following steps: sewing a first portion of a corner of said sheet to form a first hem comprising a first flap and a second portion of a corner of said sheet to form a second hem comprising a second flap sewing the first hem and the second hem to form a corner sewing the first flap of the first hem and the second flap of the second hem.
[0030] The first and second hems can make the comfort layers inaccessible. Brief description of the figures.
[0031] Other advantages and characteristics of the present invention are now described with the aid of examples which are purely illustrative and in no way limitative of the scope of the invention, and from the appended drawings, drawings in which the various figures represent:
[0032] [Fig.l] schematically represents a fitted sheet seen from below before sewing the corners of a fitted sheet according to one embodiment of the invention.
[0033] [Fig.2] schematically represents an interior view of a first and a second seam of a sewing system of a corner of a fitted sheet according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0034] [Fig.3] schematically represents an interior view of a third seam of a sewing system of a corner of a fitted sheet according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0035] [Fig.4] schematically represents an interior view of a fourth seam of a sewing system of a corner of a fitted sheet according to an embodiment of the invention
[0036] In the following description, elements that are identical, by structure or by function, appearing in different figures retain, unless otherwise specified, the same references. Description of the embodiments.
[0037] [Fig.l] shows a bottom view of a fitted sheet 1 according to one embodiment. The fitted sheet 1 is also described in connection with [Fig.2], [Fig.3] and [Fig.4] each showing an interior view of a sewing system of a corner of a fitted sheet 1. [Fig.2] to [Fig.4] describe the different steps of the manufacturing process of the fitted sheet 1.
[0038] The fitted sheet 1 described in [Fig.l] comprises a cover having a peripheral border 10 adapted to wrap a mattress. The peripheral border 10 is intended to be folded down against the mattress. The peripheral border 10 of the fitted sheet 1 has a dimension of approximately 30 cm.
[0039] The fitted sheet 1 comprises four comfort layers and two layers of fabric arranged on either side of the comfort layers. Each comfort layer has a density of approximately 80 g / m2. The fitted sheet 1 is therefore thick and the different layers are held together by crossed seams forming a mesh and quilting 13. Each comfort layer comprises at least 80% aromatic polyamide, 10 to 19% aramid suitable for tear resistance and 1 to 5% antistatic fibers suitable for limiting the formation of static electricity.
[0040] The fitted sheet 1 has four corners 11. Each corner 11 is provided with a sewing system 12. The four corners 11 are substantially perpendicular to the plane of extension of the fitted sheet 1.
[0041] The sewing system 12 is adapted to hold the fitted sheet 1 on the mattress. Each corner 11 comprises a first part 110 and a second part 111. The first part 110 and the second part 111 are separated by a notch 112. The sewing system 12 of each corner comprises a first seam 120 forming a first hem defining a first fold 120.1 at the right of the notch. The sewing system 12 of each corner comprises a second seam 121 forming a second hem defining a second fold 121.1 at the right of the notch. Each of the first and second hems can be defined by a seam at the fold. Each pair of first and second hems is intended to be opposite each other.
[0042] The sewing system 12 of each corner comprises a third seam 122 adapted to assemble the first hem and the second hem along the notch 112. The third seam 112 stiffens the corner 11. The third seam 112 holds together the first seam 120 and the second seam 122 of the second hem.
[0043] The sewing system 12 of each corner comprises a fourth seam 123 for joining the first fold 120.1 of the first hem and the second fold 121.1. The fourth seam 123 reinforces the corner 11 and prevents the user from tearing all of the seams.
[0044] Due to the presence of the four seams, the fitted sheet 1 is devoid of any means of attachment.
[0045] The manufacturing method for obtaining a fitted sheet 1 of this type comprises a step of folding the first part 110 of the corner 11 onto itself so that a first hem is formed. The first hem is formed by applying a first seam 120 at the notch 112 defining a first fold 120.1.
[0046] The method then comprises a step of folding the second portion 111 of the angle 11 onto itself so that a second hem is formed. The second hem is formed by applying a second seam 121 to the right of the notch 112 defining a second fold 121.1.
[0047] Once the first and second hems are made, they are held together by the application of a third seam 122 applied at the first seam 120 and the second seam 121. At this stage, the first fold 120.1 and the second fold 121.1 are free.
[0048] When the first part 110 and the second part 111 of the corner 11 are assembled by the third seam 122, the first fold 120.1 and the second fold 121.1 are fixed together by the fourth seam 123.
[0049] The foregoing description clearly explains how the invention makes it possible to achieve the objectives it has set itself, namely to propose a secure fitted sheet which can prevent it from being easily removed from the mattress while allowing it to be positioned on any type of mattress and / or support and the positioning of which allows the use of strap loops, by proposing a fitted sheet comprising a cover with an enveloping peripheral edge intended to be folded down against a bed, said cover comprising at least one corner provided with a sewing system adapted to hold said cover on the bed, in that the corner comprises a first part and a second part separated from each other by a notch, and in that the sewing system of each corner comprises a first seam adapted to form a first hem defining a first fold of the first part of the corner at the right of the notch, and a second seam adapted to form a second hem defining a second fold of the second part of the corner at the right of the notch; a third seam adapted to assemble the first hem and the second hem along the notch; a fourth seam adapted to assemble the first fold of the first hem and the second fold of the second hem.
[0050] In any event, the invention cannot be limited to the embodiments specifically described in this document, and extends in particular to all equivalent means and to any technically effective combination of these means.
