AI Technical Summary
Industrial textile washing processes require high temperatures for disinfection, leading to significant heat energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Additionally, these processes often necessitate ozone generation and specific cooling systems to comply with regulatory standards.
A method for industrial washing of textiles at room temperature using a washer-extractor with an enzymatic detergent and an alkaline detergent, eliminating the need for ozone addition and intentional heating of washing compositions.
This method achieves effective washing and disinfection of textiles without ozone, reducing energy consumption, water usage, and maintenance needs while maintaining disinfection standards and extending the lifespan of washing equipment.
Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Industrial textile washing process
[0001] The invention relates to the general field of washing, cleaning, disinfection and / or laundering of textiles in industrial laundry, in particular washing, cleaning, disinfection and / or laundering in industrial laundry of textiles used in industry and / or in communities and in particular in hospitals, for which the regulatory provisions relating to hygiene and bacteriological control may be strict, rigorous and restrictive.
[0002] Industrial laundry processes and washing machine-type devices for implementing such processes are known, making it possible to effectively wash soiled textiles, in particular soiled textiles. Conventionally, in such industrial laundry devices and processes, in particular in such industrial laundry devices installed in laundries intended for washing textiles used in a hospital environment, the washing water, and consequently the textiles, are heated to a temperature above 40°C, in practice above 60°C and often between 60°C and 80°C to obtain washed textiles satisfying the disinfection levels required in a hospital environment.
[0003] Such installations or industrial laundries provide acceptable results but pose problems.
[0004] Such heating, in particular such heating of the washing water, requires a significant input of heat energy so that the washing water reaches such a temperature and the textiles are effectively washed and, where appropriate, disinfected.
[0005] Furthermore, such a supply of heat energy is the cause of the production and significant release of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
[0006] Furthermore, with regard to industrial installations or laundries implementing ozone treatment of soiled textiles, they require the implementation of a specific device for the substantially extemporaneous production of ozone and for regulating the quantity and / or flow rate of ozone distributed in such a laundering installation.
[0007] Furthermore, current French legislation requires that the temperature of used fluids discharged by such industrial washing installations does not exceed 30°C. To comply with these regulatory provisions, known industrial washing installations must provide specific means for storing and cooling used and hot fluids prior to their discharge.
[0008] The invention aims to overcome these last two drawbacks in combination by proposing a process for industrial washing of textiles, in particular such a washing process including a disinfection process, which does not require bringing the textiles to high temperature between 60°C and 80°C, nor to provide a specific installation for cooling used aqueous fluids before discharge.
[0009] The invention also aims to propose a process for industrial washing of textiles, in particular such a process for industrial washing of textiles used in communities and in particular in hospitals, allowing at least a quantitative reduction of the bacterial flora of these textiles, satisfying the provisions of the AFNOR NFT 72101 standard which provides that a disinfectant must reduce the number of bacteria by a factor of 100,000 (105).
[0010] An industrial washer-extractor and a method for washing textiles using this washer-extractor are known from WO2007 / 143785. The washer-extractor of WO2007 / 143785 comprises a washing tub provided with a drum rotatably mounted in the washing tub and means for introducing a washing liquid into the washing tub to form a washing bath, the drum being adapted to receive and contain textiles to be washed and to bring the textiles to be washed into contact with the washing bath. In the textile washing method of WO2007 / 143785, ozone is introduced into the washing liquid in an amount effective for washing the textiles to be washed.
[0011] The washer-extractor and the textile washing method of WO2007 / 143785 require the production of ozone by means of an ozone generator. This ozone generator associated with the washing machine and the washing method, although they provide advantages in terms of washing and bleaching the laundry, remain however more complex than devices and methods without ozone, in particular with regard to the dosage and control of the quantity of ozone introduced into the washing machine.
[0012] The invention aims to overcome this drawback.
[0013] The invention aims to propose a method for industrial washing of soiled textiles, in particular such a method for industrial washing of soiled textiles used in communities and in particular in hospitals, not requiring the voluntary addition of ozone, in particular gaseous ozone, to the textiles during the washing cycle of these textiles.
[0014] The invention therefore aims to propose such an industrial washing method which does not require the use of an ozone generating device. The invention therefore aims to propose such a washing method which is simplified, with equal or improved efficiency in washing textiles compared to a washing method comprising at least one voluntary addition of ozone.
[0015] The invention therefore aims to propose such an ozone-free washing method which does not require controlling the release of ozone in the room in which the washing method is carried out.
[0016] The invention also aims to propose such a method for washing soiled textiles, implemented in an industrial washer-extractor.
[0017] The invention therefore aims to propose a washing method, in particular a washing and disinfection method, for soiled textiles allowing not only washing (i.e. at least partial removal, in particular total removal, of dirt) but also at least partial disinfection - in particular total disinfection - of these soiled textiles, in accordance with regulatory standards.
[0018] The invention aims in particular to propose such a method which allows washing and, where appropriate, disinfection of white textiles (commonly called "white") but also of colored textiles (commonly called "color").
[0019] The invention thus aims to propose such a washing process implemented at room temperature, in particular implemented without intentional heating of aqueous pre-wash, washing or rinsing compositions. The invention therefore aims to propose such a washing process at room temperature which is energetically optimized.
[0020] The invention thus aims to propose such a washing method implemented at room temperature, in particular without intentional heating, making it possible to limit the formation of a limescale deposit in an industrial textile washing device, in which such a method is implemented.
[0021] The invention also aims to propose such a method making it possible to significantly delay the graying of textiles, in particular due to such a deposit of limestone.
[0022] In particular, the invention aims to propose such a washing method which makes it possible to limit the formation of such a limescale deposit on components of an industrial washer-extractor in which such a method is implemented, these components coming into contact with an aqueous composition for washing these textiles, in particular on certain mechanical parts and on the seals.
[0023] The invention therefore aims to propose such a washing method which makes it possible to reduce the maintenance and servicing procedures of such an industrial washing device, whilst ensuring greater longevity for such a device.
[0024] The invention thus aims to propose such a washing method which makes it possible to reduce the frequency of maintenance interventions.
[0025] The invention thus aims to propose such a washing method which allows optimal preservation of the quality of the washed textiles in comparison with known methods, in particular hot washing methods.
[0026] The invention also aims to propose such a washing method making it possible to achieve a substantial saving in the water required for its implementation compared to hot methods.
[0027] In particular, the invention aims to propose such a method making it possible to reduce by around 33% (4 L of water saved on a consumption of 13 L of water per kilogram of textiles washed and disinfected) the quantity of water required for washing. of the same quantity of the same type of textiles, compared to a washing process carried out at 40°C or 60°C.
[0028] The invention also aims and in particular to propose such a method making it possible to obtain a disinfection of a level at least equal to the level obtained by the industrial washing and disinfection methods of the prior art.
[0029] The invention also aims to propose such a method making it possible to obtain washing and disinfection of a quality at least equal to the quality of washing and disinfection obtained by methods of the prior art.
[0030] Thus, the invention aims to propose such a method capable of being implemented without even minor modification of a known industrial washer-extractor.
[0031] Finally, the invention aims to propose such a method which makes it possible to limit the heating of the atmospheric air surrounding the industrial washer-extractor in which the method according to the invention is implemented, in particular lower than that of hot methods.
[0032] The invention therefore also aims to propose such a method which respects the working conditions of the personnel responsible for implementing the method. In particular, the invention aims to propose such a method making it possible to maintain a comfortable temperature for the personnel responsible for implementing the washing method in the washing room.

[0079] Other aims, characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description, the drawings and the illustrative examples of certain possible but non-limiting embodiments of the invention, in which:
[0080] [Fig-1] the single [Fig.l] is a flowchart representative of an embodiment particular of a room temperature washing process according to the invention.
[0081] The method for washing soiled textiles at room temperature comprises a first pre-washing phase 1 during which soiled textiles 2 are brought into contact with an aqueous pre-washing composition 3 comprising at least one enzymatic detergent detergent 4, at least one alkaline booster detergent 5 and at least one degreasing booster detergent 6. The soiled textiles 2 are kept in contact with the aqueous pre-washing composition 3 at room temperature in the rotating drum of an industrial washer-extractor for a period of the order of 2 min to 5 min. During a subsequent phase 8 of washing the textiles at room temperature, the textiles 2 having undergone phase 1 are brought into contact with an aqueous washing composition 9 comprising a bleaching and disinfecting agent 10.The textiles 2 are kept in contact with the aqueous washing composition 9 at room temperature in the rotating drum of the industrial washer-extractor for a period of about 7 min to 10 min. During a subsequent draining phase 7, a washing / pre-washing composition 11 is drained from the tub of the washer-extractor. During a rinsing phase 12, the washed textiles are brought into contact with an aqueous rinsing composition 13 at room temperature and free of detergent, in the rotating drum of the industrial washer-extractor for a period of about 2 to 5 minutes. The rinsed textiles, substantially free of detergent, are, during a spinning phase 14, spun in the rotating drum of the industrial washer-extractor for a period of about 8 minutes. At the end of the washing program according to the invention, washed, rinsed and spun textiles 15 are removed from the drum of the industrial washer extractor.
[0082] SOIL REMOVAL - Evaluation of the effectiveness of washing soiled textiles. Each tested process of washing soiled textiles is reproduced three times. For each wash of soiled textiles, separate multi-soil test pieces are added to the soiled textiles. Each of these test pieces is fixed on a soiled textile from the load of textiles to be washed. The quality of the soil removal is determined completed by spectrophotometry using a light reflectance device. The removal efficiency (E, %) of the soiling considered is determined according to the formula (I) below:
[0083] [Math.l] r - RfRn xi nn “ Rb-RnX iUU in which: - E represents the percentage of removal of a stain from the corresponding stain test piece, - Rf represents the intensity of the radiation reflected by the stained area of the test piece after washing, - Rn represents the intensity of the radiation reflected by the new test piece before washing, - Rb represents the intensity of the radiation reflected by the white textile (reference white) of the test piece and serving as a support for the corresponding dirt stain.
[0084] The removal percentage represents the ratio of the difference between the radiation emitted by the new soiled textile and the washed textile, to the difference in radiation emitted by the new soiled textile and the white textile. The difference in radiation emitted by the new soiled textile and the white textile represents the maximum variation obtainable.
[0085] The impregnated soils on multi-soiling test pieces are suitable for enabling and ensuring a rigorous evaluation of the performance of the washing process tested and an objective comparison between different washing tests. These impregnated soils correspond to demanding washing conditions. Surface application soils or superficial soils are suitable for representing everyday soiling encountered on used or worn textiles. They are applied to the surface of the textile of the test piece and fixed by air drying. They correspond to less demanding soiling conditions than impregnated soils.
