Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the anaerobic digestion and nitrogen reduction of an effluent, said process comprising: - an anaerobic digestion step (102) of the effluent in a digester (4) producing digestate and ammoniacal nitrogen, - a degradation step of ammonium ions (106) from the digester in an ammonium ion degradation bioreactor (24), characterized in that it comprises a step for extracting the ammoniacal nitrogen (104) formed during the anaerobic digestion, in which an output stream from the anaerobic digester is subjected to evaporation and condensation for the production of an aqueous solution enriched in ammonium ions, and in that at least a portion of the aqueous solution enriched in ammonium ions is sent to the bioreactor (24) to supply at least a portion of the ammonium ions to be degraded.
