Title of the invention: MATTRESS FOR SOFA BED SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a high-performance mattress that is comfortable and adaptable to the mechanisms of sofa beds.

[0002] Advantageously, the developed mattress can be placed in sofa bed mechanisms which only accept low-performance mattresses with minimal comfort and where the structure of the sofa bed offers a reduced space designed for the placement of mattresses smaller than this space.

[0003] The advantage of the mattress of the present invention lies in the fact that it has a height greater than the free height defined within the mechanism of the sofa bed, which makes it possible to offer high-performance and very comfortable mattresses, characteristics not previously available in sofa bed mattresses. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In the current state of the art, mattresses suitable for sofa beds are well known; it is a standardized product on the market, which is generally composed of three layers.

[0005] In this sense, known mattresses comprise a first outer layer or outer cover corresponding to a textile cover with fibers weighing between 120 g and 400 g or with a viscoelastic foam with a compression resistance between 0.9 kPa and 2.5 kPa.

[0006] The mattress includes a second layer corresponding to a polyurethane rubber core with a height between 8 and 18 cm, which varies according to the mechanism of the sofa bed, and whose compression resistances are between 20 and 45 kPa.

[0007] In addition, known sofa bed mattresses include a third layer or second outer cover corresponding to a breathable polyester textile cover or a textile cover with fibers weighing between 120 and 400 g.

[0008] In the context of the present invention, it should be noted that, depending on the mechanism of the sofa bed, the permissible height of the mattress varies.

[0009] Thus, for mechanisms which allow a mattress height of 12 cm, only a mattress with reduced comfort of a maximum height of 12 cm can be installed.

[0010] Similarly, for mechanisms which allow a mattress height of 13 cm, 14 cm, 18 cm or 21 cm, only a mattress with reduced comfort of a maximum height of 13 cm, 14 cm, 18 cm or 21 cm, respectively, can be installed.

[0011] Therefore, currently, to obtain the mattress heights in each case, the height of the second layer corresponding to the polyurethane rubber core is varied, while maintaining the same characteristics for the outer covers (the aforementioned first and third layers), which makes it possible to obtain the desired height.

[0012] In view of the above, the applicant of the present invention felt the need to develop an effective solution to increase the performance of the mattress intended for use in sofa beds, through a proposal allowing mattress heights greater than the interior space defined by the mechanism of the sofa bed. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0013] The sofa bed mattress according to the present invention solves the aforementioned problem in a completely satisfactory manner. More specifically, it is a mattress that comprises materials different from those used until now in this type of mattress and that make it possible to offer a highly comfortable mattress with a height greater than the space defined by the interior of the sofa bed mechanism in which it is to be housed.

[0014] Thus, the sofa bed mattress according to the invention comprises at least the following layers: - a first layer (or outer shell) of 100% polyester fabric with fibers weighing between 120 and 600 grams, - a second layer of polyurethane or viscoelastic foam with a density of at least 20 kg / m3 and a height between 1 and 18 cm, - a third layer of elastic fibers made of thermoplastic polyester elastomer, structured in a three-dimensional network, with a density between 30 and 150 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 11 cm, - a fourth layer of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, and - a fifth layer of breathable three-dimensional polyester fabric weighing between 100 and 200 grams.

Thanks to the characteristics of its layers, the mattress can be easily folded away and concealed when the sofa bed is used as a sofa.

At the same time, the mattress of the present invention offers greater comfort than other known mattresses used in sofa beds, given that the height of the mattress is greater than what one might initially expect considering the free interior space of the sofa bed mechanism. Mattress for sofa bed, comprising: - a first layer (1; 10; 100) of 100% polyester fabric with fibers (1'; 10'; 100') weighing between 120 and 600 grams; - a second layer (2; 20; 200) of polyurethane or viscoelastic foam with a density of at least 20 kg / m3 and a height between 1 and 18 cm; - a third layer (3; 30; 300) of elastic fibers in thermoplastic elastomer based on polyester, structured in a three-dimensional network, with a density between 30 and 150 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 11 cm; - a fourth layer (4; 40; 400) of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm; and - a fifth layer (5; 50; 500) of breathable three-dimensional polyester fabric with a weight between 100 and 200 grams, characterized by the fact that the height of the mattress is at least 16 cm.

2. Mattress for sofa bed according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer (2) is made of viscoelastic foam with a density between 30 and 50 kg / m3 and a height between 1 and 5 cm, the mattress having a height between 16 and 18 cm.

3. Mattress for sofa bed according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer (20) is made of polyurethane foam with a density between 22 and 32 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, the mattress having a height between 21 and 23 cm.

4. Sofa bed mattress according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer (200) is made of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, while the first layer (100) comprises viscoelastic foam with a density between 30 and 50 kg / m3.

5. Sofa bed mattress according to claim 4, characterized in that between the fourth layer (400) and the fifth layer (500), the mattress comprises a layer of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, the mattress having a height between 25 and 27 cm.
