Abstract

A method for assembling a protective bellows (1) onto a first part and a second part, at least one of which comprises an external peripheral groove (111), the method comprising the following steps: a) manufacturing or supplying a protective bellows (1) comprising a sleeve (2) made of thermoplastic elastomer material, and at least one pre-mounted elastically deformable annular clamping element (7) in an internal circumferential hollow bulge (6) of the sleeve (2); b) mounting the sleeve (2) around the first and second parts; the bulge (6) being at least partially housed in said groove (111) in the mounted state of the bellows (1); and being held in the groove (111) by the clamping element (7), characterized in that after step b), a free space (17) is present between the bulge (6) and the bottom (112) of said groove (111).
