Abstract

A method for detecting vehicle seat positions that may pose a safety risk to the seat occupant; the seat comprising a sliding rail extending along a longitudinal direction, a seat cushion mounted to slide on the rail, and a backrest hinged to the seat cushion by means of a first hinge axis, a vertical direction being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and to the first hinge axis, a reference point being defined on an area of ​​the seat backrest, a reference line being defined, and an origin point being defined on the reference line. The method comprises: a) determining (42) a deviation between the origin point and the projection of the reference point onto the reference line and along a projection direction, b) comparing (44) the deviation to a threshold, c) generating (46) a signal representing a safety risk when the deviation exceeds the threshold.
