Airstrip equipped with such an immobilization system

Abstract

This system, housed in a pit on an airstrip, comprises at least one immobilization device (1), which includes a frame (2) fixed to the pit walls, a receiving mat (3) for receiving the aircraft's landing gear, means (4) for driving this mat relative to the frame, means (5) for braking this mat, and control means (8) capable of activating the driving means in response to a first signal, and then deactivating the driving means while activating the braking means, in response to a second signal. The system according to the invention provides for immobilizing an aircraft in distress without exerting significant stress on the aircraft, which remains in perfect flying condition. The invention eliminates the need for any subsequent operation to check the integrity of the aircraft's structure. Furthermore, the invention eliminates any technical downtime of the runway.Finally, the invention finds its application in immobilizing aircraft during their landing phase, but also during takeoff.
