Abstract
The invention relates to a method for synchronizing a four-cylinder internal combustion engine, each cylinder equipped with an intake air pressure sensor, with an actuator that allows switching from a configuration where all four cylinders are activated to a configuration where only two cylinders, referred to as active cylinders, are activated. The method begins by receiving a start signal, followed by the selection of an engine position hypothesis. At different crankshaft angular positions, intake air pressure values are measured in the two active cylinders. These values are compared within a predetermined margin to validate or invalidate the hypothesis. If the hypothesis is validated in two successive steps, synchronization is achieved. Otherwise, the hypothesis is rejected, and the engine is rotated one crankshaft revolution before repeating the steps until validation is achieved. Figure 1 illustrates this in the abstract.
