METHOD FOR COOLING A VEHICLE TRACTION BATTERY DURING A THERMAL RUNAWAY OF SAID TRACTION BATTERY

Abstract

One aspect of the invention relates to a method 100 for cooling a traction battery of a vehicle comprising a first cooling circuit for said battery and a second cooling circuit for an electric traction machine. Following the detection of thermal runaway of the battery, the method 100 performs the steps of: 101 fluidly disconnecting the first and second circuits; 102 deactivating the operation of the traction battery and the electric traction machine; 103 activating the operation of a first pump of the first circuit and a second pump of the second circuit; 105 fluidly connecting said first and second circuits when: the temperature of the first circuit increases until it reaches a first temperature threshold; or the temperature of the second circuit decreases until it reaches a second temperature threshold.
