Abstract

METHOD FOR CALIBRATING A MAGNETOMETER OF A PAYLOAD POSITIONING DEVICE, METHOD FOR POINTING A PAYLOAD, POSITIONING DEVICE AND CORRESPONDING ANTENNA SYSTEM The present invention relates to a method for calibrating a magnetometer (5) of a positioning device (1) comprising a positioning module (7) configured to control the orientation of a payload (3). The method comprises a) for a given calibration position (Ocal) of a reference point (O) of the positioning device (1) in a primary frame of reference, and for each of a plurality of calibration directions (Dcal,k) of a reference axis (AA'): the transmission (105k) to the positioning module (7) of positioning instructions for the reference axis (AA') according to the calibration direction (Dcal,k),a) the acquisition (110k) by means of the magnetometer (5) of a first vector representing a direction of the Earth's magnetic field vector at the calibration position (Ocal) and the determination (120k), on the basis of auxiliary measurement data obtained with an auxiliary measuring device (65), of a respective reference vector representing the direction of the Earth's magnetic field vector at the calibration position (Ocal); b) the determination (130) of a calibration model of the magnetometer (5) on the basis of the set of first vectors and the respective reference vectors; and c) the calibration (140) of the magnetometer (5) on the basis of the calibration model.
