Title of the invention: Method for determining the quantity of at least one impurity accumulated in an air separation unit. An air separation unit comprises means (FIC1) for measuring the average air flow rate entering the unit during a period of time, means (A1) for determining the content of at least one impurity in the incoming air during the period of time, means (FIC6, FIC9) for measuring the average flow rate of output product for any output product containing at least 90 mol% oxygen during the period, means (A2) for determining the content of at least one impurity in at least one output product containing at least 90 mol% oxygen during the period, means (C) for calculating the quantity of at least one impurity accumulated or of several impurities accumulated during the period, and means (C) for comparing the quantity of the accumulated impurity with a threshold.
