Abstract

A safety device (SD) is fitted to a motor vehicle (V) comprising a chassis (CV) with front frame members (BV1, BV2), right and left, to which are coupled front wheels, right and left, steerable by means of tie rods (BD2). This safety device (SD) includes a part (PD) mounted for translation on one of the front frame members (BV2) so that, when struck by an external object (OE), it translates towards a tie rod (BD2) coupled to a front wheel and exerts pressure on this tie rod (BD2) sufficient to induce a rotation of that front wheel.
