Abstract

The invention relates to a material handling machine (1) comprising: a tilt sensor configured to produce a measurement signal representing the tilt of the handling arm; a user-operated control device to produce a lowering request signal (61) intended to initiate a downward movement of the handling arm; and a control system configured to initiate or stop a movement of the handling arm by the control device. The control system comprises a proportional valve and a valve control device configured to: determine a ceiling value based on the measurement signal and produce the flow control signal (62) based on the lowering request signal (61), so as to limit the rate of change of the flow control signal during the start-up phase of the downward movement of the handling arm.
