Abstract

Protection circuit for an electrical installation, associated protection device and protection method. This protection circuit (5) for an electrical installation comprises a fusible element (17) and a resistive element (19), preferably a metal oxide varistor, connected in parallel with the fusible element. A movable contact (21) is arranged in series with the resistive element and the fusible element. The movable contact is configured to switch, under the action of a return mechanism (23), between a closed conductive position and an open position. A solder point (25) is provided to hold the movable contact (21) in the closed position. When the fusible element (17) melts, an arc voltage is established across the resistive element (19), which then generates sufficient heat to melt the solder point, allowing the movable contact to move to the open position and opening the protection circuit.
