Device and method for measuring the activity of a pollinator colony

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for measuring the activity of a pollinator colony, comprising: a passage configured to be positioned in line with the colony entrance, having a width to allow the passage of a plurality of pollinators abreast, the passage being delimited by a wall that is at least partially transparent; and a measurement system through the at least partially transparent wall, comprising: a lighting system for the passage through the at least partially transparent wall; a video capture system for the passage through the at least partially transparent wall; and an image processing unit for the images captured by the video capture system, configured to generate data on the colony's activity. The device is configured so that the passage has a height sufficient for a single pollinator to extend within said height. Figure 1
