Long press with visual feedback via multi-plane display

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling a multi-plane head-up display system in a vehicle. Following detection (300) of a user pressing a button on the vehicle's human-machine interface to control a vehicle function, a remaining press time is determined (301) based on the press time on the human-machine interface to control the vehicle function and a predetermined duration for controlling the function. The method includes determining (302) a display plane for information related to controlling the function based on the determined remaining time and controlling (303) the vehicle's multi-plane head-up display system to display the information in the determined display plane. If the button on the human-machine interface is held for the predetermined duration, the preceding steps are repeated for K iterations, where K is an integer greater than or equal to 2, for different press times.
