Lighting system for a motor vehicle comprising: a first and a second pair of light sources, the first and second pair each comprising a first light source of one color and a second light source of another color, an optical element to which the first and second pairs are associated, the first and second light sources of the first and second pairs being arranged at the four corners of a geometric quadrilateral, the first light source of the first pair and the first light source of the second pair being arranged diagonally opposite each other in said geometric quadrilateral, the optical element comprising a first and a second optical focus, the first pair being associated with the first optical focus and the second pair being associated with the second optical focus, or the optical element comprising a single optical focus,The first and second light sources of the first and second pairs are associated with said single optical focus.
