Abstract

A wearable monitor 1 includes a strap 2 for extending around the chest or a limb of a person and a sensor unit 4 removably attachable to the strap 2. The sensor unit 4 includes an optical sensor (60, fig 8) located in a projection portion (24, fig 2), for measuring parameters relating to blood pressure. A majority 22 of the sensor unit 4 is located on a first side 20 of the strap 2 and the projection portion 24 is located on a second side (26, fig 2) of the strap 2. The second side 26 may be placed against the skin of the person. The sensor unit 4 includes a port (50, fig 7) which is covered by the strap 2 when the sensor unit 4 is attached. The optical sensor 60 may be a PPG sensor. The strap 2 may include ECG electrodes (58, fig 2) on the second side 26, which can be electrically connected to the sensor unit 4 via protrusions (48, fig 5). The strap 2 may include a plate portion 30 surrounding an opening (36, fig 10) with recesses (54, fig 11) to which the sensor 4 attaches.
