Abstract
A cell counting device 1 for counting target cells (Fig 2B, 50) within a fluid, comprising: a detection module 10 comprising a light source 31 and a photodetector 40, the detection module is configured to receive a detection chip 20 comprising a cell fluid channel (Fig 2A, 21) to conduct a flow of a cell-containing fluid, the detection module receives and holds the detection chip between the light source and photodetector; the light source comprises an elongate light source arranged transverse to the cell fluid channel; the photodetector comprises a detection area comprising a plurality of detector pixels 41, wherein the cell fluid channel runs over the area; a control unit to determine a selection of the detector pixels for collecting a signal from the pixels and determine the presence of a target cell type.
