Remanufactured carbon fiber and related systems and methods

Abstract

A method of separating attached carbon fibres, comprising: directing the attached carbon fibres onto the moving surface of a conveyor (114) such that a plurality of protrusions (113) on the moving surface of the conveyor pass between and separate carbon fibres on the moving surface of the conveyor, and directing a turbulent fluid flow to further separate the carbon fibres. The turbulent flow may be generators by engines / moors configured to blo one or more jets of fluid. Also included are claims to a fibre separation device consistent with the method, a configuration of the same system and a method using it for blending carbon fibres with a plurality of further fibres using such a system and, apparatus and a method for / of forming a nonwoven fabric by separating the fibres and then blending them as in earlier claims and a claim to a non-woven fabric from the method, which results in longer, less broken fibres than other methods.
