Abstract

An apparatus for remotely monitoring an individual in a building comprises at least one memory and at least one processor coupled with the at least one memory, and configured to cause the apparatus to receive building monitoring data, wherein the building monitoring data comprises temperature measurements of a water carrying pipe, e.g. 635 ,in the building; and monitoring the individual based on the building monitoring data. The apparatus may detect water flowing through the pipe based on the temperature measurements. A volume of water used may be determined based on the duration of a temperature delta. The pipe may be a water inlet to the building, or a pipe adjacent to a water appliance. The processor may compare the monitoring of the individual with a behavioural model.
