Method and system for providing vehicle diagnostics

Abstract

A method and system for providing vehicle diagnostics. The method includes determining a vehicle status associated with one or more vehicle faults; obtaining data based on the vehicle status, the data comprising video data and / or image data of the one or more vehicle faults; and transmitting the data to a user device. The image or video data may be real-time video or image data. The method may include requesting data relating to the vehicle status, obtaining the data which includes live video data or live image data, and transmitting the data, including live video or live images, to the user device. Determining the vehicle status may comprise obtaining a vehicle fault code related to the fault. A video capturing module or an image capturing module, which may be part of the vehicle, can be used. The method may be able to predetermine a position of the video capturing module or the image capturing module. The system includes vehicle units, user devices, and a server which carries out the method. The method and system allow a remote visual check of the vehicle to be carried out by a service person via their user device.
