Abstract

A nanopore array device comprising: a sensor comprising an array of nanopore sensor elements generating signals indicative of interactions between molecular entities and said nanopores; a detection circuit processing said signals, and generating heat which heats the sensor; one or more resistive heaters generating heat which heats the sensor; and a temperature control circuit controlling the temperature of said resistive heaters to maintain e a predetermined sensor minimum temperature. The heaters may provide supplemental heat, and the detection circuit may be a low power circuit that is integrated. Methods of using said devices are claimed. Alternatively claimed is a nanopore array device, comprising comprising an array of nanopore sensor elements and a detection circuit for processing the signals generated by the sensor, and to generate heat which heats the sensor, wherein a ratio of a maximum heating power of the detection circuit to a total heat capacity of the nanopore array device is no greater than 300μK / s.
