Improvements in and relating to flood barriers

Abstract

A flood barrier 10 or baffle for a doorway or opening in a wall is disclosed. It has a main panel 12 with a compressible resilient seal 30 on the bottom and side edges of the main panel 12. The main panel has extendable panels 22,24 which move outwardly and inwardly from the main panel by way of a jack actuating mechanism 100, and which vary the overall width of the barrier. The seal 30 has an inflatable chamber which may be inflated with air or another fluid to form a watertight seal against the doorway in which the barrier is fitted. The jacking mechanism has a lever 135 which is moveable between a first position where the jacking mechanism 100 moves the extendable panels outwardly, and a second position where the jacking mechanism moves the extendable panels inwardly towards the main panel 12. The mechanism has an operating handle 110 for operating by a user. A sensor system, including a pressure gauge 38 for monitoring and controlling the barrier, is also disclosed; as is a kit of parts for the barrier. Figure 1a
