Wind turbine

Abstract

A wind turbine 2 comprises a stator frame 4, a rotor blade apparatus 12 and an electrical energy generator. The stator frame comprises stator blades 10 coupled at opposing ends to upper and lower stator frame plates 6, 8. The rotor blade apparatus comprises rotor blades 18 coupled at opposing ends to upper and lower rotor support plates 14, 16. The rotor blade apparatus is rotatably coupled to the stator frame, the stator blades and the rotor blades being arranged co-axially with a rotational axis of the rotor blade apparatus with the stator blades radially outward of the rotor blades. The electrical energy generator generates electrical energy when the rotor blade apparatus rotates relative to the stator frame. The wind turbine may be mounted to an item of street furniture, such as a lamp post, via top and bottom mounting brackets coupled to the upper and lower stator frame plates respectively. The generator may supply an electric storage assembly such as rechargeable batteries. [Include figure 1]
