Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a backpack mounted vacuum cleaner, in particular a device for portable cleaning at height; more particularly but not exclusively for cleaning cobwebs away from stables and the like. Background Spiders are a constant feature of everyday lives across most societies across the world and considering increasing populations more cobwebs are problematic and need to be removed. In particular, in outdoor spaces such as stables or barns, cobwebs can be a large problem, and can be problematic for animals, for example collecting dust, dirt and bacteria. Spider- or cobwebs are made of strong, sticky filament and in addition to flies, this stickiness traps bits of hay chaff and thick dust, which is known as fecal dust. When cobwebs are brushed down, clouds fill the air and are not healthy to breathe and sticky webs wrap the head of any utensil used like dirty cotton candy and must be regularly removed manually. Cobwebs can be a fire hazard as they help spread fires, distressing for persons, and difficult to reach in spaces which may have high ceilings or roof. Prior Art CN 205 306 916 (LIU et al) discloses a spider web cleaning device of transformer substation, including the insulating rod, insulating rod one end is provided with the motor, the insulating rod other end is provided with the insulated handle, is provided with the switch on the insulated handle, is provided with on the motor and cleans the dish, and the insulating rod middle part is provided with the battery case, is provided with the battery in the battery case, and battery, switch and motor pass through wire series. CN 204 049 543 (DUAN) discloses a wall dust sweeping device which comprises a telescopic rod, a shell and a dust collection assembly wherein the shell is connected with the telescopic rod and a through hole is formed in the shell, and the dust collection assembly is arranged in the through hole. US 4 748 712 (DIGIOVANNI) discloses a portable, battery operated cobweb vacuum cleaner is carried on a human's back or shoulder thereby permitting use of both hands with an extension means and other parts having an effective internal diameter whereby cobwebs do not substantially adhere to internal walls. Summary of the Invention According to the present invention there is provided a backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device, comprising a body with one or more strap adapted to allow the device to be transported on a user, a suction wand and associated motor and a fluid dispensing mechanism. In this way the device of the present invention may be envisaged to provide a means of clearing cobwebs and disinfecting in semi-outdoor environments such as stables or barns. In some embodiments of the device the fluid dispensing mechanism is associated with wand, such that the fluid may be dispensed at the end of the wand, and the wand may be used to direct the fluid to where the cobwebs are or were. In some embodiments of the device the fluid mechanism comprises a displaceable fluid dispensing nozzle, such that the fluid dispensing may be a separate step. In some embodiments of the device the body comprises a wholly displaceable refuse container, for easy emptying. In some embodiments of the device the body comprises a displaceable fluid reservoir. In some embodiments of the device the wand comprises a flexible part and a rigid part. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a telescopic wand. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a handgrip extending orthogonal to the wand axis, which may provide a control means. In some embodiments the handgrip extends from a first section of the wand, such that the controls and handgrip may be accessible even when the wand is extended. In some embodiments the wand comprises a light source for illumination in low light situations. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a removeable wand end, and / or a conical wand end to gather cobwebs. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a rechargeable battery, which may be a displaceable battery. According to a second aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of clearing cobwebs using a device according to any of the preceding claims. Detailed Description of Figures With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of a backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device 99, comprising a body 8 with straps 29 adapted to allow the device to be transported on a user, a suction wand 2 and associated motor 26 and a fluid dispensing mechanism 2,12,24. In particular reference to the pictured embodiment the embodiment comprises a body having two shoulder straps 10 on a rear face of the body, which body comprises a flat rear face and a displaceable refuse container 1 connecting into a front face. The refuse container 1 comprises a handle 13 extending from a front surface thereof, and a flat rear surface for engagement into and onto the flat rear face. Below the refuse container is a lower housing 6 providing a displaceable rechargeable lithium-ion battery 26 as is known in the art, enabling plural batteries to be used consecutively, to prolong usage of the device in a large stables area for example. Above the refuse container there is provided an upper housing which provides a cyclonic vacuum mechanism and filter 23. The mechanism is connected to the vacuum wand 2, which extends from a side socket 14 of the refuse container. The vacuum wand is bipartite, being formed of a rigid part 2 and a flexible part 3, wherein the flexible part comprises a corrugated hose as is known in the art, and the rigid part comprises a stainless steel tubular part, also as known in the art. This rigid part is coaxially telescopic so as to allow for a user to reach elevated cobwebs, up to 3.5m. It may be envisaged that the internal walls of the wand may be coated with materials which minimize the adhesion of cobwebs. It may also be envisaged that the end of the wand may be provided with a duster extending from the wand end. Near the end of the wand there is an orthogonal handle 15, aiding a user in manipulating the wand in use. On the wand end there is provided a light source, provided by a ring of light emitting diodes (LEDs), so as to allow illumination of the cobwebs. Controls are located on the handle and include a power button, switch for the LED light, button to activate the fluid dispensing spray and a switch to change the suction power of the vacuum. The strap assembly comprises a waist strap 9, and all straps comprise buckle attachment means 19. The body comprises two wheels 5 joined by an axle at the bottom of the body 8 so as to allow the embodiment to be rolled around also. Additionally or alternatively an extending handle 18 is provided on the top of the body 8. The top of the body provides a fluid dispensing chamber 12, which has a transparent cover so as to allow a user to monitor fluid levels in the chamber, and which chamber has a threaded filler cap 11. A pump 25 is located below a cover 7, and pumps fluid along a dispensing pipe 4 to the end of the wand 2. The wand comprises a female connector 22 at its end, as well as a dispensing nozzle 21 at the end of the fluid dispensing pipe 4. 5 A shown in Figure 5 a sprinkler head 24 may be added to the dispensing nozzle 21, such that detergent fluid may be dispensed onto surfaces where cobwebs exist or existed. As shown in Figure 1, the female connector at the end of the wand may be used with 10 a conical suction nozzle 16, or a more standard long nose nozzle 27 or small circular brush nozzle 26. The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing 15 from the scope of protection as defined by the claims.

1. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device, comprising a body with one or more strap adapted to allow the device to be transported on a user, a suction wand and associated motor and a fluid dispensing mechanism.
2. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein the fluid dispensing mechanism is associated with wand.
3. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the fluid mechanism comprises a displaceable dispensing nozzle.
4. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to any preceding claim wherein the body comprises a displaceable refuse container.
5. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to any preceding claim wherein the body comprises a displaceable fluid reservoir.
6. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to any preceding claim wherein the wand comprises a flexible part and a rigid part.
7. A backpack mounted vacuum cleaning device according to any preceding claim wherein the device comprises a telescopic wand.
