Retail security system

Abstract

A shop security system 20 for restricting access to items in a display region 18 of a retail fixture such as a shelf 2 includes a support rail 22 securable to the fixture. At least one blocking panel 32 is coupled to the rail 22, extends transverse to an axis of the rail and is slidable parallel to this axis between a first position in which access to items is obstructed and a second position in which a product access opening (48, figure 3) is aligned with the display region 18. A barrier strip (26, figure 4) is coupled to the rail and fixed relative to the rail. The panel 32 and strip overlap in the first position and the strip extends into the produce access opening when the panel is in the second position. The strip's height may optionally vary along its length. At least one hinge mechanism may allow the rail to pivot relative to the retail fixture. [Figure 1]
