Abstract

The substantially transparent structure includes at least one transparent layer 20 in the form of a flexible film sheet and at least two transparent electrically conductive elements 12a, 12b. Each of the electrically conductive elements are separated by a part of the structure 14 which is electrically insulating. Each electrically conductive element comprises a first busbar 16a, 16b for connection to an external power supply, and a second busbar 18a, 18b for transfer of electrical current to the load 32. Each of the first and second busbars comprises a layer of a low resistance conductor applied to each conductive element. Each busbar is a laminar structure and the busbars and the electrically conductive elements are each oriented parallel to the at least one transparent layer. The transparent sheet may be a glass panel or a flexible PET film sheet. The conductive coatings may be Indium Tin Oxide, conductive ink, metal nanowires, or metallic mesh. The structure may be a lighting element (fig 4b). [Fig 1a to accompany abstract]
