A roof mountable heat pump and method of installation

Abstract

A roof mountable heat pump 100 comprises an outer section 102 attached to a pitched roof 200 and an inner section 104. The inner section is attached to the outer section or the roof with coupling means (106, Fig. 2) which enables the inner section and outer section to move relative to one another with the inner section suspended in an upright position. The coupling means may have a first coupling component (108, Fig. 2) attached to the roof or outer section and a second coupling component (110, Fig. 2) attached to the inner section by means of a hinge pin (114, Fig. 2) and a socket (112, Fig. 2). The heat pump may have a storage configuration where a refrigeration unit (130, Fig. 2) is part of the inner section and an in-use configuration where a condenser 128 is part of the inner section and an evaporator (118, Fig. 2) is part of the outer section. The evaporator may be detached from the inner section and coupled to the outer section. A method of installing a heat pump on a roof is also claimed. [Fig. 1]
