Pipeline insert assembly

Abstract

A pipeline insert assembly is provided for introducing an active functional component (e.g. a flow-control valve; inductive sensor; temperature sensor; pressure sensor; mechanical sensor; sample probe or combinations thereof) into an electrofusion top tee 12 of a pipe system. There is a body 18 having an outer thread 20 complementarily formed to the internal thread 22 of the electrofusion top tee 12. A fluid flow channel 24 is formed through the inner body 18 to in-use fluidly interconnect one end of the main pipe (14) of the electrofusion top tee 12 and a branch pipe 32 of the electrofusion top tee 12. An active functional component is positioned at least in part on or in the fluid flow channel 24, and the body 18 is axially driveable via threading engagement with the internal thread 22 of the electrofusion top tee 12 during installation of the pipeline insert assembly 10 into said electrofusion top tee 12 to alter an axial position of the active functional component.
