Abstract

The tool handle includes a body extending along a central axis between a head and a base, wherein the body is configured to have a lobe tip at each intersection of the trilobe pattern. The tool handle also includes a pair of parallel flat surfaces corresponding to each lobe tip of the trilobe pattern and extending along the central axis. The tool handle also includes a convex surface formed between each lobe tip of the trilobe pattern, wherein the convex surface extends between one of a pair of parallel flat surfaces aligned between two adjacent lobe tips and the other of the pair of parallel flat surfaces.

Claims

1. A knife handle comprising: a body extending along a central axis between a head and a base, wherein the body is configured to have a lobe tip at each intersection of a tri-lobe pattern; a pair of parallel flat surfaces corresponding to each lobe tip of the tri-lobe pattern and extending along the central axis; and a convex surface formed between each of the lobe tips of the tri-lobe pattern, wherein the convex surface extends between one of the pair of parallel flat surfaces aligned between two adjacent lobe tips and another of the pair of parallel flat surfaces.

2. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the tri-lobe pattern substantially defines a Reuleaux triangle.

3. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the tri-lobe pattern includes three substantially equidistant lobes arranged about the central axis. The three equidistant lobes are arranged approximately 120 degrees apart with respect to an axis of rotation.

4. The knife handle of claim 3, wherein, 5. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein each of the pair of parallel flat surfaces substantially extends between the head and the base of the body.

6. The knife handle of claim 1, further comprising: an inner square formed within the head, wherein the inner square extends into the body along the central axis.

7. The knife handle of claim 6, wherein a first tip of the inner square is aligned with one of the lobe tips defined as part of the tri-lobe pattern.

8. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the tri-lobe pattern is arranged to accept a three-fingered grip pattern.

9. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the base defines a convex base.

10. The knife handle of claim 9, wherein the convex base is sized to receive a palm of a hand.

11. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the tri-lobe pattern is configured to receive a regular hexagonal knife.

12. The knife handle of claim 11, wherein the pair of parallel flat surfaces are configured to engage the regular hexagonal knife.

13. The knife handle of claim 11, wherein the regular hexagonal knife is a 19 mm inner hexagon.

14. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the central axis is an axis of rotation. The convex surface formed between each lobe tip reflects a constant width.

15. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein, Each of the lobe tips bisects a pair of parallel flat surfaces.

16. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein, 17. The knife handle of claim 1, the pair of parallel flat surfaces extending along the central axis between the head and the base includes a taper proximate the head.

18. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the convex surface extends between a first flat surface of the pair of parallel flat surfaces at a first lobe tip and a second flat surface of the pair of parallel flat surfaces at a second lobe tip. 19. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the body is a molded body formed around a support shaft.

20. The knife handle of claim 1, wherein the body is a metal body, wherein the base of the metal body is configured to receive an inner hex socket.

21. A method comprising: providing a knife body extending along a central axis between a head and a base, wherein the knife body is configured to have a lobe tip at each intersection of a three-lobe pattern; defining a convex surface formed between each of the lobe tips of the three-lobe pattern disposed in the knife body; receiving at least one force adjacent to at least one of the lobe tips of the three-lobe pattern, wherein the force is received by at least one of a pair of parallel flat surfaces corresponding to each lobe tip of the three-lobe pattern and extending along the central axis, and wherein the convex surface extends between one of the pair of parallel flat surfaces aligned between two adjacent lobe tips and the other of the pair of parallel flat surfaces.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein, the head is configured to receive a bit.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein, the head includes a collet configured to receive the bit.
