Abstract

A method in an access node for allocating a physical uplink control channel PUCCH resource, the allocated PUCCH resource being one of a plurality of PUCCH resources within an allocated PUCCH resource region, the allocated PUCCH resource region being one of a plurality of PUCCH resource regions. The method comprises: transmitting to a user equipment, UE, a control channel; wherein the control channel carries an indication of the allocated PUCCH resource region; and the allocated PUCCH resource within the allocated PUCCH resource region is indicated in accordance with a mapping function having as an input a position of the control channel.

Description

Abstract A method for allocating Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resources in an access node, wherein the allocated PUCCH resources are one of multiple PUCCH resources within an allocated PUCCH resource area, and the allocated PUCCH resource area is one of multiple PUCCH resource areas. The method includes: transmitting a control channel to a User Equipment (UE); wherein the control channel carries an indication of an allocated PUCCH resource area; and the allocated PUCCH resources within the allocated PUCCH resource area are indicated according to a mapping function that takes the location of the control channel as input.

Claims

1. A method in an access node for allocating a physical uplink control channel PUCCH resource, the allocated PUCCH resource being one of a plurality of PUCCH resources within an allocated PUCCH resource region, the allocated PUCCH resource region being one of a plurality of PUCCH resource regions; the method comprising: transmitting to a user equipment, UE, a control channel; wherein the control channel carries an indication of the allocated PUCCH resource region; and the allocated PUCCH resource within the allocated PUCCH resource region is indicated in accordance with a mapping function having as an input a position of the control channel.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, from the UE, a PUCCH in the allocated PUCCH resource.

3. The method of any preceding claim, further comprising transmitting, to the UE, information related to a specification of the plurality of PUCCH resource regions.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the information is signalled to the UE (105) through radio resource control RRC signalling.

5. The method of claim 3 or claim 4, wherein the information comprises a common parameter based on characteristics of the plurality of PUCCH resource regions.

6. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the PUCCH includes an acknowledgement indication associated with a data transmission scheduled by the control channel.

7. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the position of the control channel can be mapped to index the allocated PUCCH resource within the allocated PUCCH resource region.

8. The method of any preceding claim, wherein according to the mapping function, the position of the control channel is mapped to the allocated PUCCH resource with the allocated PUCCH resource region by compressing a position index identifying the position of the control channel to map to within a PUCCH resource region.

9. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the PUCCH resource regions have the same size.

10. An access node comprising a processor, the access node being configured to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 9.

11. A computer program which, when executed on a processor of a computing device, is configured to cause the computing device to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 9.
