Abstract

Provided is a system and method for security screening integration for multiple modes of travel, the method including: obtaining, by at least one of at least one processor, a baggage source message (BSM) associated with an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; matching, by at least one of the at least one processor, a passenger name of the passenger in the BSM with a passenger name in a manifest for a second mode of travel different from the first mode of travel; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on an identification of the second mode of travel and matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the manifest for the second mode of travel, triggering, by at least one of the at least one processor, a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicating the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station for transfer of the luggage item to the second mode of travel; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

Description

At least one of the processors extracts the International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on the identification of the second mode of transport and the matching of the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the manifest of the second mode of transport, triggers a Security Screen Integration Assistant (SSIA) process by at least one of the processors, the process including: accessing and integrating security images and related data captured during security screening of the first mode of transport using the IATA license plate number, and transmitting the integrated security images and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving a security analysis response from the integrated security screening station by at least one of the processors for transferring the baggage to the second mode of transport; and causing a printer to print a mark configured to exempt the baggage from security screening for the second mode of transport, wherein the mark includes the result of the security analysis. A system and method for integrating security checks across multiple travel modes are provided. Claims

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS;1. A method comprising: obtaining, by at least one of at least one processor, a baggage source message (BSM) associated wi th an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; matching, by at least one of the at least one processor, a passenger name of the passenger in the BSM with a passenger name in a manifest for a second mode of travel different from the first mode of travel; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on an identification of the second mode of travel and matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the manifest for the second mode of travel, triggering, by at least one of the at least one processor, a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicating the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, a response of a security' analysis from the integrated security screening station for transfer of the luggage item to the second mode of travel; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the security' screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the security’ screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the BSM is a tenninating BSM; and wherein the method further comprises:sorting a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

The method of claim 1, further comprising: prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information. wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry, an air carrier, or a lodging entity.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising: receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument with a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a display of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received infonnation.

A system comprising: at least one processor; and at least one non-transitoiy, tangible memory communicatively coupled to the at least one processor and storing at least one instruction, wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the at least one instruction to: obtain a baggage source message (BSM) associated with an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; match a passenger name of the passenger in the BSM with a passenger name in a manifest for a second mode of travel different from the first mode of travel; extract an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM;based on an identification of the second mode of travel and matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the manifest for the second mode of travel, trigger a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicate the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receive a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station for transfer of the luggage item to the second mode of travel; and cause a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the security’ screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the BSM is a terminating BSM, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: sort a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: prior to printing the marker, access a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry, an air carrier, or a lodging entity.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: receive information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument with a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and cause a display of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received information.

A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by at least one processor cause the at least one processor to execute a method comprising: obtaining, by at least one of at least one processor, a baggage source message (BSM) associated wi th an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; matching, by at least one of the at least one processor, a passenger name of the passenger in the BSM with a passenger name in a manifest for a second mode of travel different from the first mode of travel; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on an identification of the second mode of travel and matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the manifest for the second mode of travel, triggering, within at least one of the at least one processor, a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicating the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station for transfer of the luggage item to the second mode of travel; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the BSM is a tenninating BSM; and wherein the method further comprises: sorting a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises: prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry , an air carrier, or a lodging entity.21 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises: receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument with a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a display of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received information.

A method comprising: obtaining, by at least one of at least one processor, a baggage source message (BSM) associated with an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; matching, by at least one of the at least one processor, a passenger name of the passenger in the received BSM with a passenger name in a flight manifest; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the flight manifest, triggering, within at least one of the at least one processor, a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicating the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

24. The method of claim 22, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

25. The method of claim 22, wherein the BSM is a non-terminating BSM; and wherein the method further comprises: sorting a plurality' of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a non-terminating BSM.

26. The method of claim 22, further comprising:prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of a second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information. wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

27. The method of claim 22, wherein the integrated security screening station is associated with Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard, or border security screening check point in an airport of a country.

28. The method of claim 22, further comprising: receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument w ith a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a display screen of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received information.

29. A system comprising: at least one processor; and at least one non-transitory, tangible memory communicatively coupled to the at least one processor and storing at least one instruction, wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the at least one instruction to: obtain a baggage source message (BSM) associated with an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; match a passenger name of the passenger in the BSM with a passenger name in a flight manifest; extract an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the flight manifest, trigger a security screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising access and assembly of security screening image and related data captured during a first modeof travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicate the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receive a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station; and cause a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

30. The system of claim 29, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

31. The system of claim 29, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

32. The system of claim 29, wherein the BSM is a tenninating BSM; and wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: sort a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a non-terminating BSM.

33. The system of claim 29, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: prior to printing the marker, access a reservation system of a second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

34. The system of claim 29, wherein the integrated security screening station is associated with Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard, or border security screening check point in an airport of a country.

35. The system of claim 29, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to:receive information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument with a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and cause a display screen of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received information.

A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by at least one processor cause the at least one processor to execute a method comprising: obtaining, by at least one of at least one processor, a baggage source message (BSM) associated with an arrival of a luggage item of a passenger, the BSM comprising travel data of a first mode of travel of the luggage item on an air carrier; matching, by at least one of the at least one processor, a passenger name of the passenger in the received BSM with a passenger name in a flight manifest; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM; based on matching the passenger name in the BSM with the passenger name in the flight manifest, triggering, within at least one of the at least one processor, a security' screening integration assistant (SSIA) process comprising accessing and assembling security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen using the IATA license plate number and communicating the assembled security screening image and related data to an integrated security screening station; receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, a response of a security analysis from the integrated security screening station; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

37. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises three-dimensional dimensional representations of objects within the luggage item.

38. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

39. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the BSM is a non-terminating BSM; and wherein the method further comprises: sorting a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a non-terminating BSM.

40. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the method further comprises: prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of a second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker further comprises the updated reservation information.

41. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the integrated security screening station is associated with Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard, or border security screening check point in an airport of a country.

42. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 36, wherein the method further comprises: receiving, by at least one of the at least one processor, information representative of a scan of an originating hardcopy bag tag comprising an IATA license plate barcode or printed instrument with a portion of printed text of the originating hardcopy bag tag; and causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a display screen of a scanning device to display a response representative of the result of the security analysis, in response to the received information.

A method comprising: matching, by at least one of at least one processor, a passenger name of a passenger in a baggage source message (BSM) with a passenger name in a manifest, wherein the BSMcomprises travel data of a first mode of travel of a luggage item of the passenger on an air carrier; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM for the luggage item; accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen of the luggage item using the IATA license plate number; displaying, by at least one of the at least one processor, a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display device to analyze the screening image and related data; and obtaining via a scanning device, by at least one of the at least one processor, a mark representative of the analysis result in response to scanning an IATA license plate barcode affixed to the luggage item, wherein the analysis result is representative of one of: a security compliance of the luggage item to cross a border or to transfer to a second mode of travel, and a non-security compliance of the luggage item.

44. The method of claim 43, further comprising: receiving, via the GUI, by at least one of the at least one processor, a country of origin; receiving, via the GUI, by at least one of the at least one processor, a selection of a type of the second mode of travel; loading training images of objects; performing, by at least one of the at least one processor, object detection based on the training images of objects; identifying, by at least one of the at least one processor, whether an object detected within the luggage item is one of a plurality of possible prohibited objects based on regulations or rules associated with the second mode of travel; and based on identifying the object one of the plurality of possible prohibited objects, displaying, on a display, an indication of the identification of the object.

45. The method of claim 44, wherein the plurality of possible prohibited objects comprises weapons, bottles alcohol, irons, and electrical power strips.

46. The method of claim 43, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises a three-dimensional dimensional representation of an object within the luggage item.

47. The method of claim 43, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

48. The method of claim 43, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry, an air carrier, or a lodging entity.

49. The method of claim 43, wherein the BSM is a non-terminating BSM, and wherein the method further comprises: sorting a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

50. The method of claim 43, further comprising: causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

51. The method of claim 50, further comprising: prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker comprises the updated reservation information.

52. A system comprising: at least one processor; and at least one non-transitoiy, tangible memory communicatively coupled to the at least one processor and storing at least one instruction, wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the at least one instruction to: match a passenger name of a passenger in a baggage source message (BSM) with a passenger name in a manifest, wherein the BSM comprises travel data of a first mode of travel of a luggage item of the passenger on an air carrier.extract an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM for the luggage item of the passenger, access security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen of the luggage item using the IATA license plate number, display a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display device to analyze the screening image and related data, and obtain, via a scanning device, a mark representative of the analysis result in response to scanning an IATA license plate barcode affixed to the luggage item, wherein the analysis result is representative of one of: a security compliance of the luggage item to cross a border or to transfer to a second mode of travel, and a non-security compliance of the luggage item so that the luggage item.

53. The system of claim 52, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: receive, via the GUI. a country of origin, receive, via the GUI, a selection of a type of the second mode of travel, load training images of objects, perform object detection based on the training images of objects, identify whether an object detected within the luggage item is one of a plurality of possible prohibited objects based on regulations or rules associated with the second mode of travel, and based on identifying the object as one of the plurality of possible prohibited objects, display, on a display, an indication of the identification of the object.

54. The system of claim 53, wherein the plurality of possible prohibited objects comprises weapons, bottles alcohol, irons, and electrical power strips.

55. The system of claim 52, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises a three-dimensional dimensional representations of an object within the luggage item.

56. The system of claim 52, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

57. The system of claim 52, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry, an air carrier, or a lodging entity.

58. The system of claim 52, wherein the BSM is a non-tenninating BSM, and wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: sort a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

59. The system of claim 52, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: cause a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

The system of claim 59, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the at least one instruction to: prior to printing the marker, access a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information. wherein the marker comprises the updated reservation information.

61. A non-transi lory computer readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by at least one processor cause the at least one processor to execute a method comprising: matching, by at least one of at least one processor, a passenger name of a passenger in a baggage source message (BSM) with a passenger name in a manifest, wherein the BSM comprises travel data of a first mode of travel of a luggage item of the passenger on an air carrier; extracting, by at least one of the at least one processor, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) license plate number from the BSM for the luggage item; accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, security screening image and related data captured during a first mode of travel security screen of the luggage item using the IATA license plate number;displaying, by at least one of the at least one processor, a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display device to analyze the screening image and related data; and obtaining via a scanning device, by at least one of the at least one processor, a mark representative of the analysis result in response to scanning an IATA license plate barcode affixed to the luggage item, wherein the analysis result is representative of one of: a security compliance of the luggage item to cross a border or to transfer to a second mode of travel, and a non-security compliance of the luggage item.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61, wherein the method further comprises: receiving, via the GUI, by at least one of the at least one processor, a country of origin; receiving, via the GUI, by at least one of the at least one processor, a selection of a type of the second mode of travel; loading training images of objects; performing, by at least one of the at least one processor, object detection based on the training images of objects; identifying, by at least one of the at least one processor, whether an object detected within the luggage item is one of a plurality of possible prohibited objects based on regulations or rules associated with the second mode of travel; and based on identifying the object one of the plurality of possible prohibited objects, displaying, on a display, an indication of the identification of the object.

63. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 62, wherein the plurality of possible prohibited objects comprises weapons, bottles alcohol, irons, and electrical power strips.

64. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61 , wherein the security screening image and related data comprises a three-dimensional dimensional representation of an object within the luggage item.

65. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61, wherein the security screening image and related data comprises tomogram data of the luggage item and contents of the luggage item.

66. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61, wherein the second mode of travel comprises one of: a cruise ship, a train, a bus, a ferry, an air carrier, or a lodging entity.

67. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61 , wherein the BSM is a non-terminating BSM, and wherein the method further comprises: sorting a plurality of BSMs based on a baggage source indicator that indicates the BSM is a terminating BSM.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 61 , wherein the method further comprises: causing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a printer device to print a marker configured to bypass security screening for the second mode of travel, wherein the marker comprises the results of the security analysis.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 68, wherein the method further comprises: prior to printing the marker, accessing, by at least one of the at least one processor, a reservation system of the second mode of travel to obtain updated reservation information, wherein the marker comprises the updated reservation information.
