Hair treatment composition

Abstract

The present invention provides a hair treatment composition including 1) hyaluronic acid, 2) one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated, 3) preservative, and 4) water. Also provided is a method for treating a keratinous fiber of a subject, the method including applying the hair spray to the keratinous fiber. Also provided is a hair treatment kit including 1) a masque, 2) an oil serum, and 3) a hyaluronic acid serum.

Description

Abstract This invention provides a hair treatment composition comprising: 1) hyaluronic acid, 2) one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, wherein the fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated, 3) a preservative, and 4) water. A method for treating keratin fibers of a subject is also provided, the method comprising applying a hairspray to the keratin fibers. A hair treatment kit is also provided comprising 1) a hair mask, 2) an oil essence, and 3) a hyaluronic acid essence.

1. A hair treatment composition comprising: hyaluronic acid, one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated, optionally, a preservative, and water.

2. The hair treatment composition of claim 1, wherein the hyaluronic acid has a molecular weight of about 20 kilodaltons or less; or about 15 kilodaltons or less; or about 8 kilodaltons or less; or about 5 kilodaltons or less; or about 3 kilodaltons or less.

3. The hair treatment composition of claim 1, wherein the hyaluronic acid has a molecular weight of about 5 kilodaltons or less; or about 3 kilodaltons or less.

4. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the hyaluronic acid is present in an amount from about 0.5% to about 20% by weight of the composition; or from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or from about 2% to about 8% by weight of the composition; or from about 4% to about 6% by weight of the composition.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the hyaluronic acid is present in an amount from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or from about 2% to about 8% by weight of the composition; or from about 4% to about 6% by weight of the composition.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the one or more oils comprise triglycerides of oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, or mixtures thereof. 26 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 7. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the one or more oils comprise vegetable oils selected from Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Açaí palm oil, African Galanga Oil, Almond Oil, Ama Oil, Apricot Seed Oil, Asian Borage Oil, Avocado Oil, Brazil nut oil, Buriti oil, Coconut Oil, Camellia Oil, Castor Oil, Flaxseed Oil (Linseed Oil), Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Marula Oil, Olive Oil, Rice bran oil, Shea Oil, Shea Nut Oil, Tea Tree Oil and mixtures thereof.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the one or more oils comprise essential oils selected from Agar oil, balsam of Peru, Basil oil, Bay leaf oil, Bergamot oil, Benzoin oil, Birch oil, Calamodin oil, Calamus oil, Cannabis flower oil, Cardamom seed oil, Cedar oil (or cedarwood oil), Chamomile oil, Cinnamon oil, Citron oil, Clary Sage oil, Clove oil, Coriander oil, Cranberry seed oil, Cypress oil, Cypriol oil, Davana oil, Eucalyptus oil, Elemi oil, Fenne oil, Frankincense oil, Gardenia oil, Geranium oil, Ginger root oil, Grapefruit oil, Immortelle oil, Jasmine oil, Juniper oil, Laurel oil, Lavender oil, Lemon oil, Lemongrass oil, Lime oil, Litsea cubeba oil, Lotus oil, Melissa oil, Moringa oil, Mountain Savory, Myrrh, Neem oil or neem tree oil, Neroli oil, Orange oil, Osmanthus oil, d-Limonene, Orris oil, Palmarosa oil, Patchouli oil, Peppermint oil, Rose oil, Rosemary oil, Rosewood oil, Sandalwood oil, Star anise oil, Spearmint oil, Tangerine oil, Tea tree oil, Valerian oil, Vanila oil, Verbena oil, Warionia oil, White Orchid oil, Ylang-ylang oil, and mixtures thereof.

9. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the one or more oils comprise one or more of Argan Oil, Orange Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil.

10. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the one or more oils are present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or the one or more oils are present in an amount from about 1% to about 5% by weight of the composition.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the vegetable oil is present in the composition in an amount from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 1% to about 5% by weight of the composition; or from about 1 % to about 4% by weight of the composition. 27 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 12. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein one or more essential oils are present in the composition in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the composition; or an amount from about 0.2% to about 4% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 0.2% to about 3% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 1% to about 3% by weight of the composition.

13. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the preservative comprises an aldehyde, a glycol ether, an isothiazolinone, an organic acid, a paraben, and combinations thereof.

14. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 13, wherein the preservative comprises DMDM hydantoin, imadozolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, phenoxy ethanol, caprylyl glycol, methylisothiazolinone, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, levulinic acid, anisic acid, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben, benzyl alcohol, piroctone olamine, or combinations thereof .

15. The hair treatment composition of claim 14, wherein the preservative comprises benzyl alcohol.

16. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the preservative is present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the composition.

17. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the hair treatment is a hair spray.

18. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 17, consisting essentially of: hyaluronic acid; one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated; optionally a preservative; and water.

19. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 1 to 17, consisting of: hyaluronic acid; one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated; optionally a preservative; and water.

20. A hair treatment composition comprising: hyaluronic acid, 28 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) one or more oils comprising a vegetable oil and an essential oil; optionally, a preservative, and water.

21. The hair treatment composition of claim 20, wherein the hyaluronic acid has a molecular weight of about 20 kilodaltons or less; or about 15 kilodaltons or less; or about 8 kilodaltons or less; or about 5 kilodaltons or less; or about 3 kilodaltons or less.

22. The hair treatment composition of claim 20, wherein the hyaluronic acid has a molecular weight of about 8 to about 15 kilodaltons.

23. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 22, wherein the hyaluronic acid is present in an amount from about 0.5% to about 20% by weight of the composition; or from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or from about 2% to about 8% by weight of the composition; or from about 4% to about 6% by weight of the composition.

24. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 23, wherein the hyaluronic acid is present in an amount from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the composition.

25. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 24, wherein the one or more vegetable oils comprise triglycerides of oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, or mixtures thereof.

26. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 25, wherein the one or more vegetable oils is selected from Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Açaí palm oil, African Galanga Oil, Almond Oil, Ama Oil, Apricot Seed Oil, Asian Borage Oil, Avocado Oil, Brazil nut oil, Buriti oil, Coconut Oil, Camellia Oil, Castor Oil, Flaxseed Oil (Linseed Oil), Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Marula Oil, Olive Oil, Rice bran oil, Shea Oil, Shea Nut Oil, Tea Tree Oil and mixtures thereof. 29 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 27. 29. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 28, wherein the essential oil comprises Ylang-ylang oil.

30. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 29, wherein the vegetable oils comprises Argan Oil and the essential oil comprises Ylang Ylang Oil, Orange Oil or a combination.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 30, wherein the vegetable oil is present in the composition in an amount from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 1% to about 5% by weight of the composition; or from about 1 % to about 4% by weight of the composition.

The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 31, wherein one or more essential oils are present in the composition in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the composition; or an amount from about 0.2% to about 4% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 0.2% to about 3% by weight of the composition; or in an amount from about 1% to about 3% by weight of the composition. 30 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 33. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 32, wherein the hair treatment composition is a hair spray.

34. The hair treatment composition according to any one of claims 20 to 32, wherein the hair treatment composition is a gel or lotion.

A hair treatment kit comprising: (i) a hair masque; (ii) an oil serum comprising: one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated; and (iii) a hyaluronic acid serum comprising: hyaluronic acid, optionally, one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated, optionally, a preservative, and water.

36. The hair treatment kit of claim 35, wherein the masque comprises one or more of 1) one or more C16-C18 fatty alcohols, 2) one or more oils comprising triglycerides of C16-C18 fatty acids, which fatty acids may be saturated or unsaturated, 3) one or more long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactants, 4) dimethicone, 5) isopropyl alcohol, 6) tocopherol, 7) preservative, 8) pH adjusting agent such as citric acid, 9) glycerin (or glycerol), and 10) water.

37. The hair treatment kit of claim 36, wherein the one or more C16-C18 fatty alcohols of the masque comprise cetearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol.

38. The hair treatment kit of claim 37, wherein the one or more C16-C18 fatty alcohols of the masque are present in an amount from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the masque. 31 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 39. The hair treatment kit of claim 36, wherein each of the one or more oils is selected from a vegetable oil, an essential oil, or combinations thereof.

The hair treatment kit of claim 39, wherein each of the one or more vegetable oils is selected from Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Açaí palm oil, African Galanga Oil, Almond Oil, Ama Oil, Apricot Seed Oil, Asian Borage Oil, Avocado Oil, Brazil nut oil, Buriti oil, Coconut Oil, Camellia Oil, Castor Oil, Flaxseed Oil (Linseed Oil), Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Marula Oil, Olive Oil, Rice bran oil, Shea Oil, Shea Nut Oil, Tea Tree Oil and mixtures thereof.

42. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 41, wherein the one or more oils of the masque are present in an amount from about 1% to about 15% by weight of the masque.

43. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 42, wherein the one or more oils of the masque are present in an amount from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the masque.

The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 43, wherein the one or more long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactants of the masque comprise cetrimonium chloride and behentrimonium chloride. 32 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 45. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 44, wherein the long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactants of the masque are present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the masque.

46. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 45, wherein the long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactants of the masque are present in an amount from about 2% to about 5% by weight of the masque.

47. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 46, wherein the preservative of the masque is present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the masque.

48. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 47, wherein the preservative of the masque is present in an amount up to about 2% by weight of the masque.

49. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 48, wherein the water of the masque is present in an amount not less than about 60% by weight of the masque.

50. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 49, wherein the water the masque is present in an amount not less than about 80% by weight of the masque.

51. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 50, wherein the one or more oils of the oil serum comprises a vegetable oil and optionally an essential oil.

The hair treatment kit of claim 51, wherein the one or more vegetable oils comprise one or more of Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Açaí palm oil, African Galanga Oil, Almond Oil, Ama Oil, Apricot Seed Oil, Asian Borage Oil, Avocado Oil, Brazil nut oil, Buriti oil, Coconut Oil, Camellia Oil, Castor Oil, Flaxseed Oil (Linseed Oil), Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Marula Oil, Olive Oil, Rice bran oil, Shea Oil, Shea Nut Oil, Tea Tree Oil, and mixtures thereof.

54. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 53, wherein the one or more oils of the oil serum are present in an amount from about 50% to about 100% by weight of the oil serum.

55. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 54, wherein the hyaluronic acid of the hyaluronic acid serum has a molecular weight of about 8 kilodaltons or less, or about 5 kilodaltons or less.

56. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 55, wherein the hyaluronic acid of the hyaluronic acid serum has a molecular weight of about 5 kilodaltons or less.

57. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 56, wherein the hyaluronic acid of the hyaluronic acid serum is present in an amount from about 1% to about 20% by weight of the hyaluronic acid serum.

58. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 57, wherein the hyaluronic acid of the hyaluronic acid serum is present in an amount from about 5% to about 15% by weight of the hyaluronic acid serum.

61. The hair treatment kit of claim 60, wherein the one or more oils of the hyaluronic acid serum comprises one or more of Argan Oil, Shea Nut Oil, Vitamin E oil, Avocado Oil, Orange Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil.

62. The hair treatment kit of claim 60, wherein the one or more oils of the hyaluronic acid serum comprises one or more of Argan Oil, Orange oil and Ylang Ylang Oil.

63. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 62, wherein the one or more oils of the hyaluronic acid serum are present in an amount from about 0% to about 10% by weight of the hyaluronic acid serum.

64. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 63, wherein the one or more oils of the hyaluronic acid serum are present in an amount from about 0% to about 5% by weight of the hyaluronic acid serum.

65. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 64, wherein the preservative of the hyaluronic acid serum comprises a preservative selected from DMDM hydantoin, imadozolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, phenoxy ethanol, caprylyl glycol, methylisothiazolinone, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, levulinic acid, anisic acid, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben, benzyl alcohol, piroctone olamine, or combinations thereof. 35 141185101.1Attorney Docket No. 334539.46076 (PATENT) 66. The hair treatment kit of claim 65, wherein the preservative of the hyaluronic acid serum comprises benzyl alcohol.

67. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 66, wherein the preservative of the hyaluronic acid serum is present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the hyaluronic acid serum.

68. The hair treatment kit according to any one of claims 35 to 67, wherein the preservative of the hyaluronic acid serum is present in an amount up to about 3% by weight, or up to about 2% by weight, of the hyaluronic acid serum.

69. A method for treating a keratinous fiber or a scalp of a subject, the method comprising: applying the hair treatment compositions of any one of claims 1 to 34 to the hair and / or the scalp.

70. The method of claim 69, further comprising a step of washing or rinsing the hair or the scalp prior to applying the hair treatment composition.

71. The method of claim 69 or claim 70, further comprising a step of steaming the treatment into the hair using a flat iron that produces steam.

72. A method for treating the hair of a subject, the method comprising: mixing the masque, oil serum and hyaluronic acid serum of any one of claims 35 to 68, and applying the resultant mixture to the hair.

73. The method of claim 72, further comprising a step of washing or rinsing the hair a prior to applying the hair treatment.

74. The method of claim 72 or 73, further comprising a step of steaming the treatment into the hair using a flat iron that produces steam.

75. The method according to claim 74, further comprising the step of rinsing the treatment from the hair after it is steamed into the hair, followed by optionally allowing the hair to dry naturally or blow drying the hair to the desired style. 36 141185101.1
